hello all.

I am getting rather frustrated, i decided to come on back to 1946, (i am no stranger to the game itself)

But, i am getting really frustrated with trying to find a 4.09m patch download that actually works??

I searched this sight but found no download for it, i found somelinks from missionfortoday but one i installed stopped my game loading.

So fresh install of game again........

I have installed 4.08 fine.

But i even asked on HL and was diredcted to filefront or file planet i forget the exact one now, only to download it and have an error reading file on extraction!!!!.

I find it hard to believe that this patch that hundreds are using on HL is so hard to obtain?

I thought i would get it here to be honest but i have not found it.

I would be very gratefull for any advice.

But i am still having the same problem as others i have tried .

I downloaded it, unzipped it, installed it over 4.08m but my game wont start???

Do i need some mod pack or other stuff installed for it to work?

Do i need to also download the skin pack? is that why it wont run?

Because the game is a fresh install, with 4.08m installed.

From what i have read, 409 should simply install over 408?

What am i doing wrong?? PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, i have discovered that there are issues with copies of the game downloaded from the internet.

I downloaded mine from direct2drive.

I have tried the patch from SAS but it does not enable my game to load.

I also tried hellzone's ubi fix patch, and that does not work either.

Game works fine in 408 but will not load at all when i patch to 409.p

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

But i had tried that too mate, i posted my problem over at battlefields as well and Adonis had the solution for me.

He wrote "Your problem are two dll's that get overwritten on the 409 patch, they're called mg_snd.dll and mg_snd_sse.dll. Back them up from a 408 install and just shove them back in after applying the 409 patch. The new ones don't like older sound cards."

I did this and it worked!
