Very good idea to make a fine B-17 Cockpit. Big Grin

Just some points:
1. There is an official manual for the B-17, I have it.
2. The old B-17 2 simulation has a very accurate cockpit, maybe you can reuse some skins and dials from there
3. your central control station lacks one of the most important features of a B-17 cockpit, the Turbo-controls, without them it' won't be a B-17 cockpit, because they were paramount for the performance and the source for quite some troubles too.
If you need some scans from the Manual i can scan them and send them to you just contact me under hdaniel_sch@bluewin.ch

The Manual: "Pilot's Manual for the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress" by Aviation Publications Suite 206, 1699 ALCAN DRIVE MENASHA WISCONSIN 54952 U.S.A

It was issued August 1 1943 and covers the models F and G. All systems are covered in high detail.

I believe on the later models the turbo controls have been converted to the manifold pressure knob.

Your B-17 cockpit looks very good. However there is another
important feature you are leaving out and thats the auto-pilot
that was used when on the bombing run. He would switch this
on for the the Bombadar to use when sighting onto the target.
I have a picture of it. I have mention this to Jinxx a couple of times.
If you want the picture, PM me and we can make arrangement
to send it to you.

Hey Kabayo,

We are going to put it in as well as try to make it functional.
It is one of the key things that Sheep and I have discussed in detail as far as making the switches move when you put the autopilot (level stab in this case) on.

Once we (Sheep for the cockpit, me for the bomb-sight), have the modeling done, I'll start plugging in some of the routines I've been working on for the control movement.

Here's a list of what I've been working on so far with the code:

1. Switch movement and indicator lights for Level Autopilot.
2. Slide movement on Norden Bomb-Sight (Slides move as range to target decreases)
3. Bomb Bay door light indicator when bomb bay doors open. (Will most likely need Fireball's help on this to know what variable he used.)
4. Bomb indicator lights on the bombardier station status panel.
5. Engine Fire indicator lights functioning for cockpit.
6. Engine Fire Extinguisher switch movement when extinguishers used.
7. Rudder, Elevator, Aileron Trim control movement.
8. ?
9. ?
10. ?

Please feel free to post suggestions on what else you would like to see and we'll see what we can do.

Photoshop is the industry standard, and a alot of the best skinners(A&A) also use Photoshop for their Aircraft skins.

Well gents,

My current RL project that I've been so consumed with for the past 6 mos is finally winding down (July 27th). As such, I will again begin devoting some time back to our B-17 cockpit project.

With any luck, we'll have some updated progress shots a few weeks after.

Good job and good luck.

I have just one question (when you'll work on), is it possible to create for each waist gunner, a variant with two Browning per gunner (gunner cockpits of YB-40).
