[WIP] Parachute Re-skin
#1

Hey guys,

I've gotten hold of the parachute texture/skin use in CoD
I thought that the parachute was a bit plane and historically
inaccurate (however I'm not certain it is actually historically
innacurate so dont have a go at me if it isnt) Anyway, I
thought I would start doing a little editing in GIMP and this is
what I have done so far

This is still work in progress and I am yet to find a way to
implemnt the skin into Cliffs of Dover (sorry guys  )

However, this is the first reskin of a generic skin/texture and
I'm just trying to take it easy so I dont mess anything up

Hope you guys like,

AdamB

p.s. I hope to find a way to put it into the game and then it
should be finished in about 2-3 days.

UPDATE: 23/6/11

I have successfully implementeed the skin into the game but
I have also come across a porblem, i.e. when the parachute
deployes it doesnt actually have a skin on it. I am desparetly
trying everything I can do to get this mod to work, but its not
going brillianly at the moment.

Hope you like,

AdamB

I will also be uploading some screens of the skin in game when
it finally wants to make itself work. That could be a while, anyway
this will be done in the next few days I am sure

Sorry I dont quite understand what your getting at,
what do you mean log file?

If you go to the forums on 1c and click on the IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover
mod, link etc. you'll find something on what to do with these mods.

Do you have to change some of the .dll files?

Good luck

Yes Planemad,

As with all files that have been edited and were not included with the game.
I dont know why this is because I'm not the guy who developed this file

http://www.kegetys.net/

this is the link to their site where you download the dll.

UPDATE: I have finished the skin but I'm am still working furiously at trying
to get it into the game, its not going well Sad

I will put up a message as soon as I can with screenshots of the chute in-game

UPDATE: 24/6/11

I have succesfuly got an in-game screen of my new skin, which has been very frustrating
and has almost taken a full day to implement.

Many of you will realise that the skin has got a hole in it, yes I've seen this too (so as you
can tell by my sarcasm, this is not a bug and I am aware)

All thanks goes to Ali Fish from the 1C forums for helping me very much for getting this
into the game, of whom without none of this would have been possible, so thankyou
Ali Fish

I meant log file, by as when mods don't work properly in 1946 it generates a java error, this is listed in the log file enabled by the config.ini, modders best friend.

I'm not entirely sure,

To be honest Heinkel I'm not really the one you should be asking
seeing as I'm not a modder, I just re-paint things and then put
the, back into the game, although this project is porving very
difficult.

I'm really sorry and embarased that I cant answer the question
about my own mod, but you should take a trip to the 1C forums
and ask around there.

As i said, I'm really sorry I cant be of more help, but I dont know
enough about this stuff

Sorry

When you tried to put this back into the game and it wouldn't work, an error would be generated and written in the log file which you can enable through the config.ini, it generally gives you some clue as to why it isn't working. Eg for a new slot aircraft when it is in-game but wont load the log might say, ERROR: Internal: Cannot find 3do/plane/Me-163b1a/hier.him
Then you know that something isn't loading right or you are missing a file in that folder. If you do get into proper COD modding you should check out some of the tutorials and explanations for IL2-1946 modding at SAS etc, both games are relatively the same with the 3d/file structure etc. Smile

UPDATE: 18/7/11

Hey all,

With the help of Ali Fish from the 1C forums I have successfully created a
fully functional skin along with all the neccessary MIP maps etc.

Here are some screens:

I would like to stress that this is still WIP as i am trying to create a new NM_MAX file to go
with the skin but at this moment in time this is the result i (with the help of Ali Fish) have
been able to come up with.

I will post a download link soon.
