:x
I forgot to put it on the end. It should be on main Benghalli island.

To vonofterdingen,
I played and really enjoyed your Camel Pond Campaign.
I can't wait for the Benghalli Campaign your working on, (Do you have any updates or title yet?)
Also are you going to post it here or in the
AAA-IL-2 Missions and Campaigns Download section?
Thanks in advance for the Campaign.
Best regards,
rustydawg

This map needs to be put in the next Mod update, along with the new Murmansk map... I hate building missions and no one has the map because they don't know how to install it....
Love the map,
- rustydawg - 27.01.2010
=DFA=BeoWolf do you have a Mission for the Benghalli Map?
If so please put a Link up for it so we can download it. Alot of people have this Benghalli Map.
I to hope this Map makes the next MOD update.

My mission is for the MDS...................

@ Rusty Dog...the campaign will be called "The Mongrel Invasion of China." Mongrel Squadron is a group of mercenaries at a base "somewhere in an uncharted area of the South China Sea."
Here is the first mission briefing:
Short
A Flying Boat has brought you to an island in the South China Sea that the locals affectionately call Skulls Island. This is the home of Mongrel Squadron.
Description
Welcome, pal. I am your new CO here on Skulls. You can call me Night Train. No names here, got it? Ok, what's your name...oh, never mind I don't care what your name is. I don't care how old you are, what country you come from, or if you got all your teeth. We got all kinds of pilots here from all different countries. We're kinda like the French Foreign Legion...only not as charming, know what I mean? All I care about is whether you can fly a damn plane. Can you fly a plane, pal?
Ok, then get in that Hawk over there and follow the flight plan. This will get you familiar with the territory.
You will take off due south, then double back over Lake Hooch. You'll see a lot of lights along the lake; that's Mizzie Liu's place. You'll see plenty more of that later. On the mountain side above Mizzie Liu's you'll see our spotting station. You got this pal? Pay attention.\n\nFrom Mizzie Liu's you'll head south east towards Te-Ney island. When you get there, fly low into the lagoon. The local pirate, Jean-Jules Bontemps, is holed up there with his bunch. They are kinda neutral in this thing and kinda not, so fly low and let him know I am keeping an eye on him.\n\nHead up north then to Widow's Tit (no need to explain the name for that one, as you'll see) and then over to Benghalli, our main base. We have Chinese AF pilots there too, but they are really a bunch of Russian volunteers. Don't worry about the Rooskies. They are good country people, pal. They will be visiting over here to see Mizze Liu's and they are pretty good about sharing the Vodka.
Then go northwest to Fang Island. We have a base there but its abandoned right now. Keep an eye out for any planes or shipping. We think the enemy has the idea of putting a base there someday. I wouldn't like that.
Then head on home. Notice, pal that the north approach to Skulls is a little treacherous. Treacherous as in, don't do that. Come in from the South and see what you can do. Nicky Pink-Nose will be flying with you. Watch what he does when he lands. If he don't land so good, maybe you should try something a little different.
Good luck pal. As a new pilot, the gin is on the house tonight at Mizzie Liu's.
I might do a series with Mongrel Squadron.

WOW..Sounds great. I can't wait for it to be done.
Keep up the good work!
Thank You.

This sounds so cool, just like a comic, or like a movie, (who are the actors
) I can hardly wait for these missions.

All the missions and tracks are done now, but I ran into a snag with testing. The AI keeps crashing into the hillside on Skulls Island. I am trying to figure out a workaround...
- rustydawg - 03.02.2010
When I made a practice mission map with the Benghalli map, I had the AI' final Altitude at least 2,500 feet. and I set the landing target to the West side of the landing strip, next to the mountain/hillside on the Skull Island airstrip.
This brings the AI in from the Ocean side, landing toward the mountain/hillside.
On Take Off I had the
AI heading out to the Ocean by placing Take Off Target Set on the East side of Skull Island(ocean side.) and the first waypoint set at 2,500 feet also.
If I had the AI Take Off heading to Skull mountain/hillside they crashed into it, unless I was the lead and made a sharp turn to the right at a high climb rate, they followed me.
I hope this helps, and you understand what I said. (I barely do myself....LOL!!!)
Best regards,
rustydawg

Thanks Rustydawg. I'll play around with the altitudes and landing locations. Take-offs have not been a problem. I am talking about Skulls island, at the southwest part of the map; is that the island you are referring to?
The pesky job is getting in the way of the campaign at the moment, but I will see if I have any luck with this over the weekend.
- rustydawg - 03.02.2010
I was talking about Benghalli. Whats the problem with the AI?, Landing or attacking?
I did have problems with the AI hitting the hillside when they start a attack run from the ocean side(on Skull Island.), if they follow me in from that direction.
I had the altitude set around 500m. I had the waypoints running on the outskirts of the island over the ocean. (It was just a practice mission for sight seeing)
I'll play around with it and see if I can make them land and attack without hitting the hill.
I'll post my results as soon as possible.
Best regards,
rustydawg

For landing on Skull Island, I have the final 2 or 3 waypoints set to 1,500m, and set the landing waypoint square and Landing target on the South side of the landing field. The pattern for landing starts on the Southwest side of the island and descends to 940m +or-20m. all the planes go in the pattern and just skim over the mountians/hillside by a few hundred feet.
On take off, the setting for the take off square and take off target are in the same spot as for landing, but the planes take off to the South! Probably would be good to have that first waypoint on take off set for 1000m. The AI seem to hug the ground when it's set to 500m(default).
I would say if you made a attack mission on the airfield the lowest waypoint over the attack area should be around 1300m to 1500m. I would pick 1500m to be safe. Then assign the AI's to their own target. (Make sure the AI have planes the carry bombs or rockets. they won't strafe above 500m). Also reading the forums about AI assignments, a player can assign the AI's targets and rove above the ground battle, like a Spotter,(that's if he's the highest rank). then send them home when their done or have them orbit in a selected area, then you can go and finish the job.
The first time I tried the landing I just had the setting for altitude set for 500m and put the landing square and target on the North side on the runway and everyone crashed. Those AI's are a bunch of whiners...LOL!!! The landing pattern goes over the North side of the island and the mountain/hillside. I think I'll try it that way with the wayopoints set to 1500m.
Get back to you shortly,
rustydawg

Ok as far as Skull Island you can only have the AI land from the ocean side. You have to put the Landing waypoint Square and Target for landing on the south side of the airfield. And have your final 3 waypoints set Altitude set for 1500m, including the landing waypoint.. Otherwise they just circle on the North Side of the Airfield flying a counter clockwise pattern just above the tree tops until they run out of gas.
I hope that helps.
All the best,
rustydawg
PS...by the way....Thank You for the mission campaigns vonofterdingen
PPS........Added the next day. For attack runs on the Skull Island airfield you can have the AI attack from the North, come over the hillside around 1300m, set the attack just on the other side of the hill toward the airfield at 300m set Ground attack on that waypoint and a target, then the next way point heading out to the ocean should be set to at least 1000m.

That's done it, Rustydawg. Thanks a million. Save me at least a week of troubleshooting.
