CAF_Blackjack, the links to the needed mods is in the first post on this page:

map requires the following mods:

dlv Egypt objects - get it here: viewtopic.php?t=14980&highlight=egypt

LAL Rone Fortifications and hangar mods - get it here: viewtopic.php?t=9302 and here:

(The link is inoperative)

The Quick folder that comes with the map needs to have its contents placed in the QMBPlus/Missions/Quick folder that is located in the MODS folder.
That makes it possible to populate mission options when using the Quick Mission Builder Plus to play the game.

It has nothing to do with using the Full Mission Builder.

Keep us posted, we will get this working.

I already got these downloaded but not installed so far, is there a place where I could find somekind of installer or something to make things simpler ??

sorry I didn't took this question out of my previous post.

I'm afraid it'll have to wait for a while, something's come up recently here. Sad

Oh, that might explain some stuff, I don't have the QMBPlus/Missions/Quick folder anywhere, I looked it up in the MODS folder but I don't have it. :?

Therefor you need to install this mod:

And here is a installation tutorial for the QMBPlus, just in case...

Ok, looks like I'm finally getting somewhere, if I try playing it with Quick Mission Builder, it does work good enough, however, there are some mods I couldn't manage to install even if I wanted to. Such as the Fortification Mod, it just says "Can't find the right path" instead of working, some others also have similar problems, no wonder it doesn't work.

At least the Quick and QMB thing is now settled.

Now, what did they meant by "Can't find the right path" or something like that, with that notepad file showing up at the same time ??

I'm not giving up on this one, especially when I'm getting some results now.

CAF_Blackjack, OK, You will need to do some manual installing here.
You downloaded the MOD_ LAL-Fortification WinRAR Archive, right?

Left click on it to open the WinRAR Archive and inside find:
1 MODS folder
and
1 add to static ini readme

Left click the MODS folder. Inside is a folder named: MOD_ LAL-Fortification
Drag that folder into your MODS folder in the game.

Left click on the: add to static ini readme to open it up.
Left click "Edit" Left click "Select All" and the text should turn blue.

RIGHT CLICK anywhere in the blue text and select "Copy" from the options list.

Then open the "static" file that is located in the STD folder. STD/com/maddox/il2/objects/static.

Now, scroll to the bottom of that, RIGHT CLICK and select "Paste" from the options list.

Then select Save and close it.

If all is well the Fortification mod has been installed.

Repeat with the Hanger mod and the Egypt mod, following the readmes they contain and you should be OK.

If you have the map installed and these lines in the list, that map will show up in the QMBPlus.
Ba advised though that unless you have a "MIS" file in your QMBPlus/missions/quick folder for the map you want to use, you will get a Wrong Target Selected message.

Finally, I think I've got it to work, the only part left would be the airbases mods, but it looks only secondary.

However, it works great, thanks a lot for your patience, hard work, dedication and generosity guys, I think I love that map. Big Grin

- Sora - 07.09.2009

I was wondering if someone can help me here. I've down loaded all the necessary folders and installed it in the sim. When I go to the FMB, I see the map. When I click on the map, there's a blank screen and no map. There are the slide bars left, right and bottom, but no map. I've followed the instruction to the "T" but no luck. I am at wit's end here and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Sora

Viking Maps - thank you - KiloGolfPapa - 11.09.2009

Salud all.

First of all, I love Vikings maps - El Al; Grand Canyon - brilliant maps. Thank you Viking!

It seems there are a few people having issues with the install - I have tried to run games on-line but people can't join missions, error messages normally relate to textures files or similar. I guess I have been lucky! I would like to be more helpful, but I am not a very tidy installer so I don't want to give advice and lead people down the garden path. I can only suggest just check you have everything : NTL_Darwin map; Egypt Objects; and everything in the right place.

If you have success, I have done some missions for both maps which can be found here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/128612145/e ... beta_.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/131621836/3 ... ars_1.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/131034253/c ... harge.html

I apologise to Viking for misusing his map to make a Mars mission - - I did it as a joke but it's actually a lot of fun.

Good luck everyone! - Sora - I'll see you online and we can maybe walk through the installs.

See you

- redko - 03.10.2009

Hi all.

Great map, thanks Viking for that work. It's a real pleasure to fly it and make missions. The fight in the desert was very different to what was happening in the rest of the world.

Some troubles with Static when installing, but after 2 weeks looking for the problem I found  .

For all those who have problems with saving a game but have already installed the map, I suggest you just download the excellent Canon Static checker. There a complete Static file, just copy it and delete the old one (make backup just in case)....and no more problem !! Big Grin

Can I suggest to map modders to work the calour saturation of their texture and desaturate those used on modded maps. It's a easy way I think to make textures and landscapes appear more realistic, more natural as a live footage, not so plastic as it is the case in general.

I played with photoshop this night directly on Viking's textures and this is what i get :

Interresting isn't it ?

The sand looks more real in my opinion, what do you think about that? :?

I was wondering if there would be a way to give a yellow/orange colour to the sky. Sometimes sands reflections make the sky appear yellow in the skyline. It would increase the felling of being really fighting in the desert....

....was just an idea. :? Tongue

Too tired, good night guys Big Grin

- viking4570 - 03.10.2009

nice shot redko. check your pm's - viking

- redko - 04.10.2009

Hi people. Good week end?

Mister Viking you have a respons on pm  .

Here two more shots. I forgive to mention that for the previous pic and this one too there is desaturated textures directly on the map files (no photoshop processing on the pic itselve) + Avala's gapa default settings. I have mine too but their work better on Avala's Bengali map, i havn't found the correct settings for Viking's map for now...i will have soon i think and post it here.

Take a look Smile :

Only sun reflections on the plane are added by photoshop for the fun but Avala's planeshine renders pretty well it too.

Here the same pic but with -5% red contrast and +5/10% green contrast in gapa mod:

It gives the feeling its a mid 70's 80's documentary slide....... or a burned pic forgotten in tha sand

Hope you like guys.
