Lookin' good. Now if someone knew how to give this baby a
sliding canopy, we'd really have us
somthin'. Keep up the good work guys.

Sorry MysticPuma, Duffys Tavern,
The sliding canopy is beyond me at the moment. Don't know if Poncho can spin his magic with this?
BTW Poncho. I have found the fore cockpit bulkhead texture location. It is damn small so there can be no detail. Just a few large blurred shadows and highlights, thats all. (For the moment
)

Avala....Cave Tonitrum...aka. "Fear the Thunderbolt" LOL It is looking very good especially to us that love the T-Bolt and fly her 99.9% of the time.
If you are flying one plane for 99.9% of the time you are missing out on 99.9% of the game.
Saying that doesn't mean I don't love to fly the P-47.
Nawwww Jaws....I get to enjoy flying against the other 99.9%

Missing out? You kiddin? Some of my most beloved planes in the game are my favorites only because I love blowing the Hell out of them in my Jug

Level adjustment in PS, but that's it.

Nice work sparrow, just what we need to protect these.

Nice shots boys, very inspirational
Taurus, disregard my panel.tga texture request, the overhang of the hood is more than I thought.
Thanks for your efforts on the floor.tga. Since the bulkhead area of the tga is so small, I think I will proceed with the hooding idea. After studying your archival shots and other references I'm satisfied that the hood is a valid part.
Below is a P47-22 for MSFS2004 that has the hood placement that I am trying for.

Regarding sliding canopies. There were so many really basic problems with this pit, that I don't think we ever considered "extras" like sliding canopies. It is probably possible to add this feature, but it would require a modification of one of the Java shell files most likely. I've worked with these a little but I'm no expert. :?

YES.
(I don't suppose we can swipe that awesome throttle quadrant ?)
- taurus - 14.06.2008
Will see what we can do Chris.
Found the firewall texture in the floor texture. (VERY low res.) Still looking for the rear bulkhead texture.
- chris455 - 14.06.2008
Looking good, the firewall texture closely matches those we have seen in photos.
Was it renderd but never used in the original?

I have been fitting a hood from the A20G to our TBolt. It is not exactly where I want it, but close. I drilled a hole for the gunsight, there are two holes which is not what I wanted but the mesh uses the same tga for both sides. Tweaked some other details like panel lights etc. In the end I will probably use the radio box from the Corsair instead of the one from the P51 currently shown. Here are shots of the pit arrangement that are close to what I will send to Taurus for finalizing.

Poncho,
Words just fail me here. This is truly a world class effort!
Now , in regards to the "holes" , permit me to make an obseravtion and a suggestion:
Footage I watched recenlty on the History Channel program "Worlds deadliest aircraft" showed some rare footage of Jugs even I had never seen before. The "hole" in the dash through which the sight protrudes was clearly square, not round. This being the case, and since the A-20 hood is "mirrored", could an attempt be made to cut a square whole in each half such tnat when they merge, they would appear to be one large, square hole big enough for the sight to go through?
Just a thought-
I stand in awe of your work and that of Taurus, I can't wait for the day to come when I can move into my new "office"!

Thanks for the info Chris, that is definitely do-able. Too bad the History Channel has been overrun by reality shows lately.
PS Whatever happened to Shadowgravy? That hit and run poster. He started this thread and got me hooked on this modding business. It has been a sponge on my free time ever since.
- chris455 - 16.06.2008
Poncho,
I myself have never heard of shadowgravy. But I know that what you and Taurus and others are doing is a dream come true for me and alot of other Jugnutz.
JHAT did make an attempt to improve the pit way back when, before the release of Pacific Fighters
as I recall, when Luthier hinted that it might be possible to include a new jug pit in PF. This came to nothing, and even when the "sound mod" came out, I don't think any of us realized what might be achieved in the way of improvements.
Let's just say that when this pit is released, it will be very difficult for me to remember that last time I got a present that meant as much to me. I drive the Jug about 75% of the time, it remains my NUMBER ONE favorite aircraft of all time. The original pit was, well, the pits. I do not hold anything against JHAT or his team, if memory serves, they were working against a very difficult schedule.
But I truly check this thread every day ( as does Diablo 310th , I know) for any news from you guys. If ever there is a way to remove the "one-shot-engine-kill" phenomenon the Jug (and alot of other A/C) suffer from, I will consider the P-47 in FB to be as close to perfect as it can be thanks to your efforts.
Thanks.
