It is said that when the first P-47Bs landed at their new airbase at Boxstead, England, an excited
RAF ground crewman ran up to the huge aircraft, and, scarcely believing that the behemoth could actually leave the ground, greeted the pilot with the nervous question:

"Is anyone else getting out?" Confusedhock:

I love that story..............

Hahahahaha. I love it.

James Goodson ran up to Capt Blakeslee after Blakeslee got the first p-47 kill for the 4th fg and Goodson said "I told you the Jug could out-dive them!!" Blakeslee looked at him and said "Well it ought to be able to dive, it sure as hell can't climb!"

I always get a kick outta Blakeslee's hatred for the Jug.

Wasn't Blakeslee the one who called the P-47 "the Repugnant Thunder bus"? Smile

- Th!rdeye - 20.06.2008

LOL. I do believe he did. Gotta find that quote.

He called it all sorts of things....

I have sent a remodeled version of the pit to Taurus. Give him a bit of a grace period to look it over and decide what needs to be done. That said I don't think it will be long now. Big Grin In the mean time I will continue to tinker with a few loose ends.

Below is a F4U Radio switch box we could use although the one from the P51 is not bad.

I did the best I could with the gunsight port. I took the liberty of applying some trim.

Overall the pit looks something like this:

As far as the throttle handle goes, accounting for the findings of ShadowGravy. I think it best that we start with the ball handle and progress thru square and round handles as we release the later Models.

Poncho,
+10 on the dash hole- this is exactly what it looked like in the documentary.
I don't recall the trim, although it is a nice touch.
Superb work. The radio transceiver looks nice too. This this is really coming alive now! Big Grin

Looks really great.

guys....this is fabulous. I seriously not only am in awe in what you have been able and willing to accomplish but I am waiting"impatiently" LOL for the new pit. I know this is for the razorback but I sure hope this continues right thru the P-47 Late. The Late is my main ride and from what I'm seeing in the razor I jsut can't wait for a new one for my Late. I sure do wish it was an N model we were getting tho..LOL But alas....Mr Jolly would ahve to allow some FM and DM tweaks for that to ever come about. A man can have Jug Dreams can't he? Smile

Also I have to admit...I used to avoid flying in a Razorback...with teh new sites I love it. I no longer choose to fly a B or C model Pony when i can fly my Fat Lady with wonderfully useful new sites. Thank you poncho and taurus for giving me my girl back and making her fun to fly again even more so than ever.

Diablo,
Just remember this about the 'stang-
The P-51 was just the P-47's kid sister who only became more popular because sh'ed go farther.

Poncho, Excellent work mate! I've sent a PM.

I recall something about a red seat or something that needed some fixing. The bubbletop is next on my agenda after the D-10.

Fantastic news, but guys, any chance of the sliding canopy, or is that not an option at the moment?

Man, I'm so loving this work! Please remember though, it's not over until the Fat Lady sings........and man, she's sure tuning her throat Wink

Cheers, MP.
