It also seems that pilots are not very eager to bail out, there just staying in there flying coffins.
I think that this is a feature of the original AI. I've frequently seen bombers with out of control fires fly on for miles/kilometers, with none of the crew bailing out. The same thing happens if a plane loses power to multiple engines and will eventually crash. Even over wooded or mountainous terrain the crew stays with the plane until the end.
Realistically, the crew of a mortally wounded plane should only try to stay with their aircraft if they can reasonably hope to make a crash landing (i.e., they're near an airport, or are flying over flatlands or water). Other than that, they should bail out - especially if the airplane is on fire. The exceptions would be for airplanes flying over enemy territory, cold water, or open ocean, where the pilot might risk everything to get to safety. Even then, however, once the plane falls to 1,500 meters or so, with no hope of regaining altitude, the AI should probably have the crew bail out.
Other cool bailout possibiities, which may or may not be possible:
1) There are accounts by U.S. pilots of (possibly inexperienced) German fighter pilots bailing out of slightly damaged, but severely disadvantaged, aircraft. By 1944, the Germans were producing planes faster than they could produce pilots, so some pilots put a premium on saving their own lives. If they bailed out over the Reich, they could be back in the air in brand new plane within a few hours. In game terms, you might have Rookie or Average pilots bail out if they're high enough above the ground and their airplane is damaged (but destroyed) and they'd otherwise have to move defensively.
2) Bombers could attempt to remain flying by jettisoning guns, equipment, etc. While this would require new animations, a functional cheat would be to have a badly-damaged bomber go from "default" loadout (after it jettisons its ordinance) to "empty" after a certain time period.

I'll second all of that. If it's possible it would be a great enhancement.

I actually found the AI bailing out of a seemingly not too damaged plane and from about 500 to 1000 metres. They were ACE pilots too.
The 109 was trailing a little smoke but other than that didn't look too shot up.
so I think this feature is there.

HI
I am not an expert but i think that planes with damaged engines shuld be go back to their home bases .
Now they are doing all but no go back to home. This make me sick
Btw great job.(sorry for my english )

at first thanks to certificate for this great mod
i downloaded it and tryed it, flying in a ju88(invulneurable) against 4 p51, just to have a look at the ai.
after 10 min i destroyed 3 of them and wanted to kill the last.
i switched the sight to the p51b and saw it turning one loop after another with full rudder and elevators.
i dont know if somebody already mentioned it.
i wanted to give you screens but im a noob. can somebody explain how to insert screenshots plz?
is this a bug? (it seemed to me like the ai doesnt know the existance of ailerons)

Hi all, Sorry for the meddling...
I have a question:
Does this MOD work also if only the host player has it? or is it necessary that all players in game have the mod?
thanks for the answer
- |ZUTI| - 29.01.2009
Host is enough. Server is responsible for AI behaviour and it's server that sends out data about AI planes action and position.

Ok, test your mod offline
Nice things, but also strange things
I liked that if I kill a Bomber they dont drop their bombs, no pilot had the nerves to jettison bombs and then eject
But I think damaged bombers should jettison bombs to keep flyable
Also fighters with bombs, testet it against Mig 3 and 109F, the dont jettison their bombs and act as pure fighters......I dont think that fighter, not Jabo, Pilots keep their bombs in a dogfight
also the AI still keeps climbing, and climbing.....avoiding a good fight
but great work

edit (there is a bug with B-17 - when engaged from one side => opposite waist gunner fires)
Disregard what I said.
I've been told it will be fixed for UI v1.1.

Well, this might be a bug...
OFFline mission, DCG, New Guinea, plane A6M21, intercept mission, 4 B17 downed, 4 P40 intercepted. My wingman shot down 3 P40, then he crashed into the mountain. Otherwise OK.
- LAL_RONE - 30.01.2009
BIG BUG : IA Wingmen can't follow IA leader squadron when plan flight is under 600 m.
IA Wingmens move greatly and escape everywhere.
Same thing with multi-engine.

I love this MOD, it really makes the AI vicious. Ive got a large B17 formation mission, and the 109's actually look like thye are up there to tear you to shreds. They attack alot more quickly, dart in and out striking fast. Im loving this MOD really opens things up. AMAZING!
PS. is there or is it already included in this MOD where the AI's spotting distance. Like for example, the AI bomber dont spot the enemy fighters til there literly ontop of them or something.
