You can response to this question or not, is your choice, but which % of the map is completed? 50? 60%??
- canonuk - 16.03.2009
Triad - the cows don't have shadows. Extra effort that I don't have time for. Some enterprising chap can add them when they've been released.
Realdarko - sheep have been made too, don't worry.
And regarding completion, too difficult to judge a value. Enough left to do for it to be a while, but not so much that it's light years away...

Beautifull Joe, keep going

Brilliant as usual Joe - still the most eagerly anticipated map I reckon!

Very impressive Canon. I don't know how many villages you will be able to place on the map but this ups the immersion level exponentially.

Last question on this I promise
Will the farm animals have a damage model? Waging economic warfare on a country you have to strafe the poor animals that would otherwise feed your enemy!
Thanks again

Chivasirons - I should be able to put a fair spread of villages in between all the towns and cities - it will all have a really English feel. French villages will get the same effort.
Triad - yes, cows and sheep have damage models. Search for Madtoc's 'New Objects' thread - I initially annunced the cows and sheep there and there are pics.

Thanks for the info Joe. Looking forward to this amazing map!

I can't believe how much work your putting into this map. Well done. One question. I found it hard to spot roads and railways as Compans fields borders didn't match up. Have you found a way around this or is just way to much work. As if you didn't have to much already.
- canonuk - 17.03.2009
Chivasirons - I'm not quite sure exactly what you mean. I haven't placed roads or railways on my final version yet, which is why you can't see them. Or is that not your point?

Hi Canon
On further review, what I was thinking isn't possible without unlimited work. On most maps the roads are just placed over the field textures without regard how the cultivated fields are aligned. It never looked odd in some of the orginal game maps because there were no cultivated field textures just grasslands.
Never mind my ramblings.

Ah right, yeah.
That's the annoying thing about the road and rail networks - they don't follow natural patterns. So, when you have a texture with natural shapes and patterns, the road and rail just lies straight over it.
I'm possibly going to tweak the colours of the road and rail networks so they fit better with the textures. We'll see though

I brought the subject up at the 352nd map forums and 352ndPersecutor had an interesting idea where he put a small road over a larger road and it created a nice road border. Although he found it very labour intensive and may not be used intirely on their map.
