Certificate - you ok fella ???
As I understand, his last mod to the A.I. was so realistic that they shot him down for real on his final mission.......

Yikes! no more "certificate" postings.
Buddye over on the A2A simulations boards has been improving the AI performance on BOB II WOV for Eons. Seriously, it is a very tough coding assignment. He has been tireless working with code, testing back and forth with users for several years. He has accomplished so much, and still there is an enormous amount of work ahead of him.

If certificate persists with this work it will be a huge benefit to our community. This is a much larger community than BOB II WOV for sure. If we could get some instructions from certificate there will probably be others who would like to to help.
In fact, certificate might even be able to put together a group of competent people to work along.

Certificate ??? where are you ?
Oleg offer you a job ? (bloody well should have done, about 4 years ago !)
The number of views here are testimony to the incredible work that you have done.
What Nearmiss (I know has been involved with development of BOB II for years so he is very serious) says is very true.
AI testing is not 'playing il2'...its something that should be systematic. Its a good sugestion that a team of people create 'systematic' procedures and work together if you would be prepared to accept their help.

Hey guys, I'm still alive
hock: . If I had known that people would be concerned about me, I would have checked in sooner  .
Real life is on my 6, and I can't seem to shake the bugger.
The good news is that I haven't dropped the project. The bad news is that I'm probably still a couple of weeks out of being able to put any appreciable work into this.
This "group of competent people" business seems like a winning idea. It's what I had initially wanted, but then I wanted to get the basics together and released without the CF that often occurs in a committee. It sounds like most people liked one or another of the versions enough to get some enjoyment out of it, so I wasn't totally out to lunch.
Two weeks, be sure.

Good news, Mate. I hope you can get real life out of the way soon so you can get to the important stuff.

Good to hear from you, Cert. You're famous now, so might as well get used to the concerned fans, myself included 8)
We're all looking forward to seeing how far you can go with this.
Hi cert - Snail - 24.02.2009
you're a real celebrity, can I have your photo signed?
As I am testing (using
) your 1.17 mod a lot, I'd like to make a summary of things, which you could tweak... After you shake that bandit on your six!   Nobody wants to see you peppered...
1) As new DCG (3.40) is released, Jabo's flight path has been tweaked, so they do not hit the ground on their way. They should engage, when under attack, so let them drop bombs.
2) Interception code should be checked, because it happens almost every mission - Zeke 500-800 m bellow the bomber shooting empty sky... Last time I watched it, it made 2 passes like this before it found the  real  plane.
3) Gunners should shoot more often - they do not shoot in the final phase of fighter attack almost at all. Maybe this is experience related... However, rookie should fire like hell, but not hit the target.
IMHO I wouldn't do any changes to bomber gunnery or AI maneuvering, as you do not have much time, the first 2 points are the worst...

Just pleased you are okay. Was worried you'd been hit by a bus mate.

What a mess! I stone fell down from my heart. Now I have to cleen the hole room.
Ok, not entirely cause of your well being, but also knowing that this (AI mod) will go on.
This will help me sleep deeper and with lesser nightmares.

First time blog on this thread, but I have been following your progress on the AI mod for quite some time!, So, great to see you back Certificate, even if it's just brief, for now!
I like the new behavior of the AI's! But I have noticed that if I change to Autopilot after receiving any kind of damage now, the Autopilot will go into a nose dive! "I tend to like to let the Autopilot take me most of the way back to base!" . Other than that keep up the great work and you will have single handedly changed IL-2 forever!

) :OO

Something new?"for me that is", The AIs seem to clime to 17950ft-19950ft, when their being chased, and I don't know about anyone else but I'm having a heck of a time trying to get that height, the AIs seem to get to that altitude easily! OH WELL! I guess that just makes it more FUN?.
PS: on A side note, I have seen lot's of interest in "TAXING AI's", instead of just taking off from a lineup on the runway!,
which is somewhat unrealistic!, Is this something within your scope of expertise! If so that would make you an even BIGGER HERO in the AAA site!
Thanks Agian!

Welcome home Certificate!!!

I can confirm that the AI are crashing into mountains more often because of this MOD (version 1.7). I have tested modded missions against the same unmodded missions and the 1.7 AI don't seem to have enough power to get over mountains in certain situations.
This is probably due to the fact that certificate has edited the AI power values (which he has admitted in his posts) and they sometimes cannot get over high terrain like they could before they were edited.
So, just be aware that if you are using a map with many high elevations, like Kuban or Slovakia, you may see the AI crashing into terrain they normally would avoid.
