we're getting closer[quote]
Wow this is Exciting, I can't wait for this Map to come out, I've already begun to read hosts of books that I have on Guadacanal, and the Bismark Sea!!
*Cracks FMB Knucks* I can't wait to build Static Campaigns On this Map!
- spud - 28.01.2008
Do the Slot, first, I'd suggest waiting on the Bismark Sea

Gotta love the new view distance.

a crappy shot i took in a hurry to show one of the many SPB's (seaplane bases)
this is an anchorage used by VP-23 during the invasion of Tulagi/Guadalcanal in the Marasamike estuary operating from the seaplane tender Mackinac.
also some small stats here:
runways on the slot map - 25
SPB's on the slot map - 9

The Slot First it is! - Dixiecapt - 29.01.2008
golly this is like an eight year old waiting on X-mas!
I've got Ideas on a Slot Campaign, Basicly that would take the pilot though some of the historic action in that area, such as....
Invasion of Tulagi and Slugfest on Guadacanal (of coarse)
Coast Watcher Operations
Fletcher abandonting the 1stMarDiv
The Naval Battle that saw several crusiers sunk...
I need to do more research, but I can't wait to spend several months with your amazing map and piece together a static Campaign/Coop that would traverse all action in that area!

Watched a interesting movie on Guadalcanal today, it might help with your research;

Hmmm... You know I forgot something - Dixiecapt - 29.01.2008
to the Makers and prodject team behind the slot...
One thing I have learned is that missions, skin, mod, and map making is hard hard work, and these people are in a way like artists. Mission4Today taught me not to take things for granted and ask these "artists" permission to use there work.
Even though this might be a silly thing to ask... I've had people get upset before.
Would the makers of the Slot map mind if I tried to make a Statis offline/Coop Online Campaign with the Slot map? The Campaign would be of good quality, heavily tested, populated, and full of great story drivin Brefings.
For an example of my work you can check out my topic on my OSS - 1st Air Commando Campaign which is close to completion and will be availible on AAA.

By all means Dixie!! Have fun.....oh wait, I'm not on the team. I ain't qualified. Seriously these guys can do more in 1 hour than I can do in a month...maybe even a year!
I'm sure, I'll bet $1,000,000,000 (J/K for those legal crazy folks) they won't care!

Of course I wouldnt mind Dixie. BUT, you will have to wait like everyone else and wait for its release.

Absolutly!!! I wouldn't want to build on an unfinished prodject, Plus I got alot I need to watch and read!
I wouldn't mind doing something about VMF-229 .... stops thinking about it, they didn't exist. It is a Marine Squadron that belonged to MAG-21, and follows their Battles. W.E.B. Griffin used this Squadron in his 11 book series "The Corps".
(this is just an idea) But, 229 was apart of Cactus, and fought all over the Slot and Bismark sea area in his books. Basicly this would allow the player squadron to be at every historical battle, the only fictional part of the campaign would be the squadron they belonged to. They would follow MAG-21 and all of its historical battles, in a way that no historical squadron did.
Can you Imagine flying over the night naval battles around Savo Island, Peering below at the huge muzzle flashes, and above at the colorful shell fire!
OK attacking the Tokyo Express, and lining up a small fleet of skin modded Transports that can be damaged by strafing runs, such as in the Guadacanal Video.
of coarse, the beauty of all of this is your map is the entire slot

BTW Thanks for the Movie LINK!!! (Now im gonna quit hogging this thread lol  )
