my damage mod only affected the strength of the ships guns against nearby explosions or rocket/cannon fire ...no changes were made to the hull strength or relative ability to sink any ships

Hi, You added double slashes and extra numbers besides changing the values. What does // affect?

I cannot find an unpacked i18/ship.ini anywhere in my il2 folder

you didn't provide one for your shippack either........

they seem to be working OK without having added anything to the ship.ini anyway :?

Sorry, it seems that I gave you wrong advice, you don't need that file. You can change the name of ship in i18n/technics properties, I think it's provided in SP2. Just find section ships and you will see how it's done.

Could I have more help with ship cloning please.

I am trying to clone HMSKGVBB into the Ship0 slot.

I have tried following earlier posts but with only limited success.

I have renamed technics.properties to techncs_ru.properties as has been suggested.
I have also made all the edits to

chief.ini
ships.ini
stationary.ini
technics_ru.properties

Game CTD's at 70% load.
If I remove the edits from the chief.ini it now loads ok and I get the HMSKGB clone as a stationary ship but not as a moving ship.

I'm running out of ideas.

Once I've got HMSKGB clone working I'm going to try swapping out the meshes and replace them with HMS Warspite meshes, so it would be nice to get this working.

Yes. Shippack works great.
A superb addition to Il2
Only problem is with cloning.

When I changed the ini files to make the clone I got CTD at 70% loading.

I have removed the clone changes from chiefs.ini to get it to work again

Now my "Stationary ShipPack" HMSKGV clone works ok

but the "ShipPack" HMSKGV clone does not appear in the drop down menu in FMB.
This is probably because I have removed the chiefs.ini entries, but if I add those back in then nothing works.


70% CTD - DoktorWho - 23.11.2008

Hope this doesn't get lost! I haven't used ship pack 1 so 2 is a clean install. Frankly I found the load instructions confusing. I'm no dummy but thats what happened. I use UI - but for the life of me cant get past the 70% load mark. Is there a "common" or repeatable issue I'm missing. Did I read about RU properties or something? Hope somebody can help. Many thanks in advance. DW

DoktorWho, there are solutions sprinkled throughout this thread and here is the simplest- Disable the Static AC MOD.

There seem to be file conflicts somewhere and you can read this thread through and try to figure it out or try the above.

I had the problem too, and to tell you the truth, i fixed it by simply replacing the .ini files that were already given with the download... solved my problem. :wink:

The Shippack 2 mod works fine for me.
My only problem is how to use the spare slots for ship cloning.

You need to add entries at two places in chief.ini. Lines should be like this;

Ship0 ships.Ship$Ship0 2 icons/shipDestroyer.mat

[ShipPack.Ship0]
com.maddox.il2.objects.ships.Ship$Ship0

You can see where these lines should go in your existing chief.ini.

If this doesn't solve your problem than take a look in your Logfile and see which error is reported than we will see what should we do.
