Another awesome one

Thanks Avala
. Consider my pics as a little gift to thanks for the work done on the map !
As no one posted recently here, I thought "hey! what about let them a little gift sometime to inspire them and make them run to pc for fly hours and hours.... 8) "
I was trying your "Avala terrain lignting" on your map an others too but i didn't notice the difference...there must be something i do bad. I'm checking this point...
I also reworked your textures a little by desaturating them to make it apperas more natural. Now my sand appears on your map like those edited pics I posted here! I was surprised to see that some photoshop effects like "diffuse light" that i use on my edited pics works on the IL2 textures keeping the "diffuse light" effect! I did it too with Viking's EL Alamein map and i get very good results (i posted a non edited pic on his threard:
viewtopic.php?t=19597&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15
It looks like a live footage.
When I will understand how works your "Avala terrain lignting" I will mix it with gapa mode and some texture reworking i already made and I think I will have something interresting for all here.

I found an answer to my application error message on Google - it seems this map is TOO big for my rig, windoze chucks up this error when theres too much detail (ie, to many objects or map size too big).
Has anyone got a reduced actors.static? I also get this on the Taranto map !!

My pc has 2GB Ram and a 9600GSO with 384MB, and I'm having no problems playing it on full settings, strange making153 :?:

My pc is a bit worse than yours (not by much though) and this map loads in seconds with me playing on highest settings with nothing toned down. My fps must be in the 50 zone as well

I'm trying to save a bit money, so I can buy a new processor, and a new GC.....9600GSO sucks a little bit with GTA-4 and Fallout 3.... And a new processor would be nice too, a Q9650 for example
..
But it's so damn hard to save some money, while there are so many nice things to buy!!!

This is to both fyslanboy and redko (and any other GAPA user)
I have tested Avala's, fyslanboys, and redko's sets and made my own which I think cover the best of both worlds: a nice bright sky but with a mix of brilliant blue, and a nice tonally dark terrain. In comparing my GAPA settings to those of the original stock settings, by terrain is darker but catches the light beautifully. I will post them up here so you all can try them out
- Fryslanboy - 10.10.2009
Yes, I would like to try the settings of you, Philip!!
- Lejo - 10.10.2009
I'm also interested.
Tried several options but wasn't satisfied about whatever setting I tried. It costed me too much time fiddling around with GAPA so your settings are more than welcome philip.ed!

LOL, when I have time on my other PC I'll post them. Please bear in mind though that they are best played during the day, rather than at night. I use avala's settings for flying at night, because I have everything hotkeyed so I just press my hotkey to change the Gamma
- redko - 10.10.2009
it's the problem of gapa, you must make your own settings, and for each period of the day...and sometimes for each map. it's a funny tool but it doesn't resolve the big problem of this game : the lighting

No, but is sure makes it look nice

These are my GAPA settings. Excuse the double post, but it bumps this post back up
BTW, this is the same for red, blue and green and is best when used in daylight flying
Gamma: 0.80
Brightness: 22
Contrast:147
BTW, I am using my ATI control panel, but from using GAPA before the effects are identical
- Fryslanboy - 13.10.2009
Nice, will try them out!
