Re: Canvas Knights Public Beta2 Discussion Thread - RAF209_Benge - 28.06.2014

Lanoe George Hawker was not only a great pilot, but also a great innovator of aerial weapon technology...many of the devices he invented while with both No. 6 Squadron and No. 24 Squadron were adapted by both sides for use.

He also played a major role in the tactics that were used by the RFC to take the skies from the Luftstraekee during the late Spring and Summer of 1916

Re: Canvas Knights Public Beta2 Discussion Thread - RAF209_Benge - 28.06.2014

His inventions included the following

the Prideaux disintegrating link machine-gun belt feed,
the practice of putting fabric protective coverings on the tips of wooden propellers,
the use of fur-lined thigh boots, and
devising a primitive 'rocking fuselage' for target practice on the ground.
In 1916 he also developed (with W.L. French) the increased capacity 97-round 'double drum' for the Lewis Machine gun. It was issued for trials in July and after modifications was issued generally to the RFC and RNAS.[3]

As well as Swarm fighter technics and fighter only and bomber only Squadronss
