I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this in and if not I apologize and hope it will get moved to the appropriate place.

I was wondering if it's possible, with the existing engine that IL-2 utilizes, to have triggers within the game. Meaning, for example, you approach an airbase and it causes some planes to take off purely because of your presence. This way poeple can add some randomness to their missions and if people don't follow the desired waypoints they can still have encounters and it can add to the replayability of missions.

I know other games have this feature for mission building but I don't know if it's possible to code in with the existing code that IL-2 uses. I just thought it would be a great addition for mission builders if it's possible. Thanks.

I'm afraid not otherwise I think Oleg would have included them. He says they will be available in SoW.

If it could be done it would have been by now I believe.

When offline you approach the enemy airfield, its AAA starts the fire on you. Isn't it some kind of a trigger? Perhaps the situation is not so hopeless as it may seem Smile

Closer to an "in range - attack" trigger, but not an "If plane in range, then man AAA guns, sound alarm, spawn AI aircraft from hangar and set detected plane as target". You'd need an "if... then..." kind of trigger that one could programme with.

Unless the mission builder puts aircraft ready to take off on the map. Although slightly unrealistic, this could maybe be used as and effect of 'the trigger' in order for the planes to take off and interecept. As it is in game, there is no way for stationary aircraft to take off as they are just objects
