NoStretch w/ Widescreen Mod.
#1

For anybody trying to get Josses's widescreen MOD http://mod-fr.thinking-board.com/mod/mod...tit&lid=45
to display on a 1920 x1200 24" monitor. I finally have found this conf.ini and thought it might be useful.
Now the reticles are almost completely round instead of being stretched horizontally. And the game displays full screen.

[window]
width=1680
height=1050
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

:lol: :lol:

old news (years old)... welcome to "wide fill-screen" mode :wink: ...because you are guilty of trying to cheat by seeing more with your screen we punished you by croping the image at top and bottom Tongue .

ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8

What settings would you reccomend for a 19" widescreen?

I'd like to see all that I can see of the IL2 sim world.

I have a X241w LCD monitor that allows up to 1920x1200 Currently I run at 1440x900 so I can run higher refresh rate. Currently, I have one of the wide screen thingy set up in my conf.ini.

What is the settings for to see everything the sim renders and I'm OK with black verticals on each side of the screen.

I got it ....

I'm going to leave my settings in case someone else wants to see all they can see and doesn't care about the large black borders on the sides.

[window]
width=1440
height=900
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=0
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0

I know it doesn't sound right after spending big bucks for a wide screen monitor, but I'm tired of the elongated aircraft and gunsights. Everything just looks strange. LOL

SaveAspect=1 force you to a stretched 4/3 aspect. Put it on 0 and it will free the aspect to 16/10 but... with cropping.

these are my settings:

[window]
width=1680
height=1050
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

And I use the widescreen interface Mod of UfJosse and a mod for smaller fonts.

What does the widescreen interface mod do?

I like the idea of smaller fonts, but will that mod knock you out of online play 4.08m servers?

Well, I don't play on servers that don't allow mods, I play only coops actually... So the Mods I am using are not passing CRT=2 but they do their job.

Here are the two mods I use... widescreen interface by UfJosse and the smaller font mod made by... I don't know who... it has no readme either.

http://www.mediafire.com/?j0d3ixygwdj

you need to put those folders from the archive in your MODS folder from IL-2 1946 root folder. To uninstall... simply delete them.

PLease note the following:

The map in the briefing screen looks "widescreenish", it is a known bug ad Josse couldn't solve it.
The map that you have in flight is not "portret" anymore but "landscape". I keep it at the bottom of the screen in the middle... like in my lap. To move it arround drag it by holding both mouse buttons.

guys i just installed this and tried it, i know that it has been set up so that reticle appear round, however, my planes and wing span shrunken or squashed, is it possible to have these not so square, the aspect ratio is off by a bit, enough to make them look like toys. so can it be stretched a bit more?
