Get real about 1946
#1

Let me first say I am immensely grateful and impressed by all the hard work of the modders, contributors and staff at this forum. Nothing I could ever say must diminish this pure fact, you guys are fantastic and have done so much for us all: THANKYOU from the bottom of my heart. Well done, you rock!

I do not wish to sound demanding, I only want to put forward what I feel are some priority ideas now that the modding is really taking up momentum around here and the sim is becoming easily the best that has ever seen the marketplace so far. Again thankyou AAA for making this a reality.

There is no doubt in my mind, especially becoming aware of the extreme credibility of the site, that balance is a very real consideration on the minds of all contributors. Again, well done fellers!

So now that we are in this apparently new age of il2 I feel it is important to make some probably common sentiments of game balance plain. We have this 1946 version of il2 and already some great mods, the F4U-2/5, the F8F Bearcat, the P-80A-5 and Griffon Spits like the contra-prop Seafire 47 are being not only proposed, but largely completed in development. Let me say it's been great that a He-219 and a Me-410B has been similarly developed!

But for 1946 campaigning there are some production realities within Germany, and more specifically an industrially more viable Germany within the credible scenarios, with mass production of D-12 to D-15 models geared for a period late-45 and squadron service at the very least by 1946 (probably sooner). These are significant changes to the available lineup of Luftwaffe models as it stands coming into 1946, with dedicated all-weather fighter-bombers (D-12 and D-13) and the new Ta-152C based D-14 and D-15 mainstream fighters (probably sharing fuselage but not wings for fitment of the DB-603L and G engines respectively, range is decreased due to lack of wing tanks but immediate production simplified).

So I put forth formally a request for a D-9 with a WM change for D-12/13 representation and a Ta-152C with a WM change for D-14/15 representation, for future 1946 campaigning as the new P-51H, P-47N and F4U-5 doubtlessly make their inevitable appearance through the modders.

Let's face it, I'd rather see these production realities for genuinely historical "what-ifs" in campaigning rather than the prototype fantasy-frenzy most Luftwaffe modders are most likely going to get involved in.

My 2-cents, I beg that it might be at least superficially considered.

Thankyou all for your time.

I do fully agree that we need the later models and I would really like to see some things like the D-12 R 14 and R 20. However some of the other mods that are appearing also grab my attention such as the Torbeau Mk. X and now the 410. I think that it will just be a matter of time before we start to see some new ideas such as yours and others Smile
