Long story, short:
to recover info off a drive, I need some VISTA 32 boot disks. I have slaved the old drive to my new PC (yes both had the same version of VISTA
), and I am prompted to insert my VISTA boot disk to proceed. Yes I am sure it was slaved, and yes I did reverse the two drives both physically and in the BIOS to make doubly certain. Also yes these are all legitimate copies of VISTA
VISTA can detect the drive but will not access it; it is reporting the contents' size as I recall it to be and I am hopeful I can recover things like my skinning templates but apparently I cannot proceed without the boot disks
I have tried looking up VISTA boot disks but I can find no site, MS or otherwise, that can simply offer me a download to make them. And no, going to XP is not an option, as this does not solve my problem
Any suggestions? Neither my other PC or it's replacement came with boot disks, and I can find no option to generate my own from this PC
