Mod question re. P-38 skin, poss. to remap texture reversal?
#1

The main problem anyone has when it comes to skinning the P-38 is the rubbish way some textures are mirrored, so that if you put a No.38 on one side of the fuselage, it appears on the other side reversed.

This means that it is virtually impossible to create any historically accurate, numbered or marked skins due to the original way it was created.

So I'm asking, as I really don't know, is it possible to have the texture/mapping modded to stop this horrible and frustrating 'glitch' in the skinning of the P-38 model?

Would love to hear a positive reply, but that's all I can do, wait and hope!

Cheers, MP.

 C' mon "magicians" support this idea by Mysticpuma!!!
It is maybe off topic for this tread but I would like also to resurect idea to correct that crazy dihedral on P-40 series ( from E to M models ). If it is o.k. on P-40 B , then it should be possible to rework it on later models.

It could be possible... But not at this current point in time I would think. There's still more to be done with texture mapping...

Hmm...
About for the texture mapping, sometimes the 3d animation program itself is giving the way that the textures must be positionned, and is not accepting other ways...

For mapping an object,it's depending to the way that the object was created.

So for creating new texture mapping coordinates on the skins,we need a new model of the plane. In this case, the P-38.

If I remember correctly, there was a thread a couple of years ago on Ubi about this. I think it was Gibbage who had written it. Didn't he model the P-38 for IL-2? Maybe someone should contact him.
