Ok, I've noticed for a long while and now I'm finally willing to ask....why was the TBF-1 not flyable in the game? Its the ONLY aircraft that isn't. Is there a reason behind it? It didn't come with the AAA pack.

well I remember that Oleg couldn't model it because Grumman (ie. the REAL company that built it) wanted an exorbitant amount in royalties that made it unprofitable, so he left it out all together which is a shame really given that the TBF is such an important part of the pacific campaign.

Yes but understand....with the mods it can be made possible (I think)...and the TBF-1C and the TBM-3 :!:ARE:!: flyable....why isn't the TBF-1???

I think it was made flyable along with the other TBF's and avenger....but there was some conflict on-line...so it was removed

But now we have the ability to create new slots I'm sure it will come back one day

I think you're correct FF, I think it was removed due to the online spawn problems (you'd end up spawning on the enemy base instead of your own for example) with any aircraft.

But I could be wrong...

Yes, that was the case, but I think they also fixed that.. or did they?

it just needs a bit of gentle persuasion to fly it, quite a few pilots in my org have taken a carrier qualification in this and the b5/6n2, ( 5 takeoff, traps and taxi) and passed, the trick is to use the throttle to level out the plane. they have way to much torque and so full throttle make the planes unstable.

You're supposed to trim the aircraft until it flies like a god! That's the key to flying it straight. It is PERFECTLY stable! :wink:

The instability could possibly be that the FM files for non-flyables are missing 3 entries to do with angle of attack that all flyables have. :o

Of course these non flyables would need to be put in new slots to allow for the correction to the FM.
