Idea for a MOD "breath sound"
#1

I read lot of books about WW2 pilots and lots of them talked about their BREATH during dogfight !!

Is it possible to create a MOD using the pilot breath sound when the "G force", positive or negative is active (breath appear cool and become faster with a real CUT when youre out, or become agai cool when picture is normal and disapear !!! Could be great to show the difficulty for the pilot for his breath and body to support the action !!!

Could be fantastic for Realism !!!

Sorry for my english.... Confusedhock: Big Grin

BoB Wings of Victory has the sounds you refer to and I notice that some our sound mods are taken from the same game.

There is a heavy breathing Wav that kicks in before blackout, and a couple of scream sounds that indicate a pilot hit. It would add another dimension if someone could get these to work! Elliot??? Where are you?! Smile

I did try to use one of the 'bullet hit' sounds but am not sure how to get it to work in il2. I renamed the sound 'HIT.wav' as per the old one in iL2 Samples folder but it still plays the old sound.

Any ideas?

Yes, in BoB2 these effects are very nicely done!

How about mod into il-2 the sounds of "The pilot straining manauver" that delays g-lock. Smile

sounds exactly like someone doing a huge number 2 !

Straining for Four Gs

The AGSM consists of a deep intake of breath, followed by breath-holding and grunting for about three seconds, followed by an explosive exhalation and repetition of the process. This act increases the pressure inside the lungs and chest and, in effect, supercharges the blood pressure on the "inlet" side of the heart. With this technique, a well-trained pilot can raise his blood pressure around four Gs' worth.

Jane's WWII Fighters had this effect- in tight, G-pulling maneuvers, you could hear the pilot grunting and breathing hard.

Did pilots exercise this method in WWII?

And to be more interesting, we could put female voice to do all that moanings and sighnings

In the Spitfire Ace series, Pete Brothers explained a technique of leaning one's head to his shoulders and forcing it during a tight turn which can prevent the blood from going out from his brain...maybe we could combinate this with the 6 DOF mod Smile

That would make me more dizzy! Smile

What I would like to have is a "audio grunt sensor" in the game. The more you grunt and groan the more g-s you can withstand without blacking out.

I would say this would make on-line MP chat very interesting. Big Grin

If I remember correctly, this G-Force feature was included in Red Baron also.
