Okay if anyone can save me from myself I'll be very grateful.
I have made no bones re my ineptitude in understanding the process of bits and bites, and every mod application has challenged me in some way. So far it's to the tune of 7 (count them) 7 complete reinstalls. Now I am just getting going with maps installed, aircraft installed, all kinds of great effects installed fully functioning QMB Plus, literally days of work at something I don't fully understand ... too good to be true? You bet.
I had to have Freddy's 109 Cockpits. Beautiful. I love them. I had them all flying every single one, smoking allied planes everywhere I flew. At marginal cost in anguish. Was it good enough. OOOOOOHHHHH NNNOOOOOOO!
I decided that I didn't want a picture of someone else's girlfriend in my cockpit. Never. I decided I needed to see my cannon round counter and had to move the power cable for the gunsight. I decided it was a little too odd to have my gunsight reduce to about 1/6th size when it got damaged.
I decided to load up on the Ultimate 109 cockpit kit including the file replacing the missing glass fuel tube from the fuel line. I wanted it all.
Bad idea.
I installed these little beauties with baited breath. I jumped in and I flew. the first thing I noticed was I had lost all the sound from my 15mm cannon in the Bf109F2. Not too big a problem, what's a little rejigging with wav samples, anyway. Then I noticed that when I looked back and down on the F2, F4 I could see the green hills of Slovakia through my lower fuselage. Not good.
Then my second big mistake (the first was not backing up things when they were working well - I did set a system restore point but to no avail later), I tried to tidy files for which I was not sure of the function. All of a sudden, I thought I was searching for a misplaced single file to plug the hole in my fuselage, and though I would reduce the duplication between the "Files" folder on my root directory and the one in the Mods folder, so I copied one into the other gladly overwriting each one. what could go wrong now?
That was it. The next time I went in to my installation to see if I had fixed the fuselage hole, I found I had lost all the following aircraft : Bf109E7B, Bf109F2, Bf109G2, Bf109G6, Bf109G6Late 43, Bf109G10, Bf109G14, Bf109K4, Bf109K4C3.
You allied only jocks might find this amusing until you realize that you need to shoot at 109s almost as much as I love to fly them.
Anyway that's my tale. Please save me the trauma of reinstalling again, please.
Help the old guy.
