adjusting objects list
#1

Hi, I am not that brilliant at computors etc..so if there is an answer to my questions could you keep it simple LOL...I love building bases etc... my only headaches are that if I add new buildings my old list is useless as the object numbers change. My biggest headache is the amount of objects available. There are lots I dont use ever so could I ....make a folder and somehow dump all the objects I dont use now into it in case I want them later??? I guess what I am trying to do is adjust my object list so only the objects I want to use show up and if possible arrange them in an order that makes sense. Like if I decide a building could be used on a farm that and every building I feel the same way about would be in that series of numbers??? am I asking for something that cant be done???

yes it can be done.....but!

the objects list in the FMB is simply a copy of the list of objects in the static.ini

if you want to make your own truncated static.ini with just the objects you want in it...only they will appear in the FMB list.....but if any objects placed upon the map by the map-builder (I assume you are just making missions here) are not in your own list...then the map will not save

I am making missions but populating the templates myself. I never make cities and most of the buildings are aimed at that so I was just looking for a way to make my list of objects with just the ones I intend to use, So would I delete the lines from the ini file? and is there a way to know what number object is associated with each file listing???

make a backup copy of your static.ini and put it in a New folder in its usual place.... then butcher the copy for use

best to use the FMB+ which gives you the title of each object...the same name as is used in the static.ini

forget the number system..that is just the order of the item in the static.ini list
