20mm cannon for He-111
#1

Hi, new here. Decided to checkout old IL2 but everyones talking about evil modders so decided to go a google and found this site, EXCELLENT! Mk1 Spitty, flyable ME110C, english channle maps! I can feel a BOB mission coming on!

First question, looks pretty messy to setup but will give it a go soon. What version is latest, and most stable?

Second, can someone add 20mm cannons to a He-111, dorsal, front and belly? Of course that would require a smaller bomb load but these bombers are not designed to bomb ground targets, theyre designed to protect other, standard bombers. Placed on formation wngs, front and back, they kepp pesky hurricanes and spits from getting too close. something like a spanish amada. Strange, pre war years, it was a common requirement for all new bombers to carry at least 1 20MM cannon for defence, but few actually got any?

Third, I'm not sure why 1C is so down on Mods, most game companies encourage mods to keep their software alive! although IL2 is special I suppose?

downloaded and installed ok, spent all afternoon checking out the new aircraft. GREAT STUFF! luv the sound of hurri and spit. and bullet hits sound so real! scary!

Where can i find a good BOB map? the ones in unified look to be modded normandy maps?

Good to hear more aircraft on the go, a lancaster would be nice. I know there's a fairy Battle somewhere i might add it to my BOB mission.

I now have the map working, WHAT QUALITY WORKMANSJIP!! did you flog it off Oleg? LOL! Big Grin

go to your IL2 1946 directory \ MODS \ mapsmods \ map \ directory, there you will see 2 ini files. copy the contents of test_all.ini to all.ini then run the Map builder, you should see it there, at the bottom (or where ever you placed the code when you copied it). The Map builder only allows 2 full columns so if you have a full house, your new BOB map selection will be on the top of colume 3 - or floating in space - look hard!
