Fixing the fix
#1

First In installed the sound mod and wrapper etc. Worked ok except for russian splash screen. Fixed the splash screen and then found some maps in FMB in crillic . Fixed that and then found many campaigns in russian crillic. Fixed that.
Now I find when I play the BoE normandy campaign, (campaign starts in May'44) i am confronted by Tempests which is very unlikely and whats worse they are in American markings! Total realism killer.
So something is screwed up again, bringing me to the conclusion that perhaps I should have left the game as it was as I now spend more time fixing it than I do playing it!

Hi dogtail. Sorry to hear you are having so many problems - modding can be like that sometimes Cry Although I don't think that the language problem you have had would have affected your campaign in that way (american tempests) and I believe the tempest went into service mid '44 or so, so you should expect to see them around - though historically in small numbers... definately not American though  that would annoy me too. is that one of the addon campaigns you are using? I would have thought they would have done their research better...

I don't know what can be done to alter the campaign you are in at the moment, I'm sure someone around here must. I would however recommend you try IL2 DCG (dynamic campaign generator) as they are much better than the originals, and addons.

Hi Pirate

Ive played this BoE campaign before and didnt see American Tempests. I think its due to the last patch which I installed to fix the crillic briefings. The patch included a lot of other stuff which I didnt want, all bundled together as an .exe, never a good idea in my humble opinion.
The patch i used was called Fix_4047.exe and is 46.5Mb. Yes, you read that right. 46.5 MB just to fix the crillic briefs, so you can imagine how much other stuff came with it! Stuff I didnt want to install but had no choice.
The problem is, now that the game is open to modders, anyone can, regardless of their historical knowledge, change things within the game. For some people, seeing American Tempests flying around would be perfectly ok.

Maybe someone who knows which files influence which planes in which markings, in a dynamic campaign, could point me in the right direction to fix the Tempest issue.

Hello again dogtail

In the thread I think you would have found the Fix_4047.exe, there is now an individual download for cyrilic breifings, and a seperate one for BoE. Though I imagine they are the same as the ones included in the all-in-one, I can't be sure. It might be worth posting in that thread incase Potenz is checking it regularly - or PMing him if not. Like you i don't know what influences what exactly relating to campaigns - I've played around a bit with DCG, which uses fimilar files, I'll have a look and see if I can see anything obvious.

Thanks Pirate,

I'll keep tinkering to see if I cane find a cure. One other thing Ive noticed with this campaign is that so far, any Spitfires that turn up are also in American markings. Not quite as irritating as the Tempests but still a bit strange.
