im am new to il2 mods and kind of cluelss about it all. i downloaded il2 1946 off of ubisofts web site with no DVD and i downloaded there approved megamod off of a server. i tryed to install it by dragging the zipmod file into the the main file than unpacking it and nothing happend. what am i doing wrong?

I know little myself about mods :? however, I presume english is not your first language and you meant to say you downloaded from "their" website?

If you can tell us what you actually downloaded ( the actual name of the file) it will make it easier for people to help.



If you downloaded the official 4.08 patch (or 4.09), they are self extracting files.

You simply run( i.e. click on them to activate) them from desktop or a folder and they will automatically install (usually) into your Il2 game.

the name of the file is \il2_v4.08_mods_megapack_v1.0.zip . i am american born and bred but i have a hard time putting my thoughts into words.

Evan...I have no idea what that file is I would suggest you delete it and forget about it for now.

What you need firstly is to download and install official patch 4.08.

Then I would suggest you download the Unified Installer from this site. I gives you all you need including a version switcher which enables you to to switch versions quicker than I can type this.

You can get the official 4.08 patch for 46 here:

Download that, it is a self installing patch which will find your game installation automatically(after you click on it to activate it).

After you install the Unified Installer you can pick from some of the many other mods available here

I am aware also that there are issues with the downloaded version of 46 the solution to those issues is also on this site

I would also suggest that you stick to this site for mods, as most (all?) of them have been tested to be compatible, and I believe you are asking for trouble trying to use "mods" from some of the more dodgy sites

Hi guys, sorry - I'm a bit grumpy - just spent a long time trying to register, then when I follwed your link to the Unified installer - I received this message:
