Ok there are SEVERAL things in the sim that are small and insignifagant that either A: Never got compleated upon release or B: Got porked before release. One of those things are the Squadron names, historical and otherwise along with thier regimentals. A good example of this would the the lack of a 201st MEAF Squadron for the PTO. It's widley known that Mexico was left out of the countries list in IL-2. My aim is to fix that oversight forthwith. Along with adding the proper squadron regimentals to some of the squadrons listed as well as adding new squadrons to the list and thier corect regeiments. Also i'd like to make sure that all aircraft can display a regiemtal as an option.
While historically...not all squadrons did so...there are several NON historical squadrons that would possible like to add thier own regiemts design to the sim. off the top of my head...CPS, RCAF_FB would be two. thereare others. But you get my point.
So being new to the modding aspect of the sim.....What would i need to do to get started modding.
Where are the files located that i would need to link the new images & .txt files for the images, and where do you change the squadron names. If someone could halp me out and give me a starting point that'd be great.
After i work on this i may switch to helping out some of the map guys. Or on to some other form of eye candy mod. but this is where i'm starting so i can get kind of get the hang of it brfore i try and bite off on a larger more invloved prodject.
At some point i want to work with Wepons. Adding the HVARS's to the P-51 has long needed to be done. As it was HISTORICAL for the PTO. and used operationally there. A point some ppl often forget is this not just a ETO Western/Eastern front sim. and fixing a few HISTORICAL inaccuracies would go a long way for the sim.
