Spanish Civil War Splashscreens

At the same time there is such a thing as artistic license, you can make a film, a play, a comic, or a campaign for Il-2 based on the Spanish Civil War, and not have it 100% historically accurate. Is Picasso's Guernica an accurate representation of the bombing?

There was a huge variety of aircraft in the SCW, and people enjoy using this to their advantage and making interesting skins that aren't necessarily historically accurate. No harm in that.

Googd point, but people should know if they are looking someting historically accurate or loosely based in...

Hi - some great images here - thanks for sharing them.

I would be interested in some of the skins shown here - oparticularly the I-153. I have had a look at Mission $ Today and Flying Legends but don't see too many I-153 skins. Is it possible for some of the skins shown here and referred to in the thread (Tuckie, Agracier) could be uploaded somewhere? Maybe at SpecialAircraft Services.com? Zeppo has just recently uploaded some excellent Nationalist skins - for mission building, a few more options on the red side would be great!

Thanks again for your work - excellent stuff

I'd be happy to do so, but just keep in mind that most of the skins are more or less fictional. I got some flak for that in previous posts here in this thread. And lots of these skins were made when i was just starting out to skin planes. On the weathering side for instance they do leave a bit to wish for ... but if you'd indicate which ones you'd like, I'd be happy to oblige.

Ooooooh! Christmas comes early!

Umm, how about:

He111
CR42 Republican
Ki26 (Fokker hack) Republican
G50s both sides
I 153 Republican (this is my favourite!)
109s

I have read the other threads and I appreciate the views of those who want to preserve historical accuracy - it's an important aspect of this sim; however I often write "what if" scenarios that open up more possibilities. For instance, it was a fairly close call politically as to whether western countries (including Britain) would come into the war on the Republican side; or provide material support. Of course apart from the individuals in the International Brigades, they did not; but if they had; well; Republican Gladiators; maybe even Hurricanes....

Anyway, that's a Spray and Pray post for another time. If you are happy to post the above skins somewhere and post a link here or in the Skins request thread, I would be much obliged.
Many thanks and appreciate btw your Spain SE map, which I am using for my first series of missions - I hope that's OK with you.

Salud!

Of course it's all right. That's what maps are for. Especially since it was a map that I only retextured. I did not make it myself.

Kapteeni and i have another, much better Spain map in the making. It should be out within a short time from now ... this one of Andalucia, also the SE of Spain, but with more detail and cities and roads and what not. Also have one of Spanish Morocco and one of Galicia in the making as well.
