Thank you.

The card is a HD4870x2, handles the game superbly, nice anti-alias, nice picture.

The only post processing tomy screens is usually the Photoshop filter named "film grain" (settings 1,3,1) it makes contrast, lights and "film" look old-style, like if it was '40s footage

In the downed BF109 screen I just added a new layer, overlaying a fire picture tu the game's fire effect.

Than some dodge tool, to darken the "tail" of the fire, and make it look lurid and oily. That's it.

X2 is not a good option to play IL-2. None ATI is.

4870X2 is running exactly the same than one only 4870. Bad thing: CF is not scalling...

GTX295 is very much better dual card solution in this case. Near 40% faster:

Nvidia was ever better in this game. BoB SoW is programmed in OpenGL too, therefore, Nvidia will be better option too with new Oleg's game.

I always used nVidia, but this time for my secondary PC I got this special offer from a friend who runs a shop, so I bought it for two bucks.

The ati-nvidia debacle can be significant today, on a recent game; but on IL2's engine... cmon I play at 1280x768 at a constant rate of 100+ frames per second... I mean, should I seriously care?

When (hopefully) Storm of War will be on the shelves, I will buy a nVidia just foe thegame, thats for sure.

Firstly, my post's sense wasn't to start a ATI-Nvidia discussion (useless). It was only an advice about VGA to choose for IL2ers. In other games can be different.

Secondly, I have got a GTX295 (more powerful than X2 with this engine), and there are situations in which none could mantain 40fps with AA and AF and HQTex and HR MODS, etc. Not talkin about 100 or more... Check TheBlackDeath.ntrk for example.

well, why did you start one then, when this is not a tech GPU topic and none asked for benchmark charts.
I love playing with Passmarks too, at times, but this is not the place.

Bye.

I didn't start any war. I only gave my advice because a lot of ppl read this forum. And according your comment, the 4870X2 moves IL-2 superbly... Everybody need to know that the 4870X2 moves this game exactly the same that one only 4870 does (which isn't talking very well about this ATI dual solution).

That advice and the general recommendation to il2ers about OpenGL and Nvidia too, were the reasons I did that point.

Only to help and clarify for our readers and forum members. Not doing criticism to you, to your hardware (in other games) or ATI products.

Regards.
