Resolution question
#1

I just finished building my new computer and decided to install 1946 i patched to 4.07 and 4.08m, however i seem to remember being able to up the resolution higher than 1280X1024X32 in game without changing anything within the games files. my monitor resolution goes up to 1440X1080 so i know cant be my monitor and my graphics card resolution is set to 1440x1080. I thought that 4.08m was supposed allow you to max out the resolution...anyway any help would be great thanks.

Like IAR 80 says, go into your conf.ini file and change it:

conf.ini Wrote:[window]
width=1440
height=1080

ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0
And if you've never been in your conf.ini and have a system that can handle it, also (near the bottom) change the following:

conf.ini Wrote:Sky=2
Forest=3
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=3
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
Water=4
Effects=2
ForceShaders3x=0

Your choice for Water= is 2, 3 or 4. There's some difference between 2, 3 and 4, but if it's too hard on your system, use 2.

Check out this link for a great guide to the conf.ini http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... Base&cat=7

You will need to make sure you have the following to get rid of the bars - don't worry about them in the GUI they go away when you start flying - in addition to changing the resolution as above

change SaveAspect=0
ChangeScreenRes=1
EnableResize=0

Have fun

That is actually weird, because if you get black bars, you have a wide screen? 1440x1080 is a 4:3 screen. Are you sure your display's native resolution is 1440x1080, or is it actually a 1920x1080 one?

I was going from that info and a 4:3 screen gets SaveAspect=1 in the conf.ini.

my bad your right my max res is 1440x900 i dont know what i was thinking it is a widescreen. I'll try out the changes in my conf.ini file hopefully they work thanks for the link to the conf.ini guide its a lot of help. I think i may be going crazy though, i could have sworn that i could change the resolution to be much higher while in the game, is that a feature with 4.09b1?
