default icon settings change?
#1

I'm wondering if there is a way to set the default icon type for when you choose "toggle icons". I want to toggle them, but only on or off. I'd like to have just a small dot at normal radio range for friendly only, and nothing for enemies. I see that there are several ways in game or FMB to set icon types, but is there a way to set the default for all missions so that when I hit the key I just get the small friendly dot?

Sorry if covered elsewhere.

This is an almost 10 year old sim.

No offense to anyone here.. but it does not begin here.... This place has become IMO a respectable sunset for IL2.. but there are broader wider spaces to be traversed that go well beyonfd the confines of this site. This is not the end all & be all of IL2.

Check out Mission 4 Today.. specifically in your case... Dot range... wth

Thanks for the replies guys, but some of the reply is a bit cryptic. Does this mean its too old to bother with, its dying off or just go to another mod site? I didn't quite get it. I've had the game since the first demo, and played EAW before that... still going strong for me, and plenty good enough until long after BOB launches I'll warrant...

Bearcat, I had found that M4T article (thanks though!).. It sounds like I can do what I want, and explains the codes well enough, but they don't clarify what this means "If you haven't created the com files section to alter dot ranges, do so as they are very useful." Where exactly would I put the commands?

Thanks!

That post could be talking about altering the RCU file. Here are some examples/tutorials on how to set up multiple dotranges and the "call" them quickly in game:
