I looked for an answer on this all over the Forums and could not find it, so I figure I will ask it here.

I have the IL2 1946 install, updated from 4.7 to 4.8, then installed UI1.1 and its patch. Works great. I then put in IL2 Stab as I wanted to use the resolutions settings there among the other useful goodies I found in it too Anyhow, if I use the switcher, to use the other version how can I go about using IL2 Stab so I can retain my screen res? It currently launches the sim at ver 4.09 and shows the different splash screen, so I figure it is running the UI version, which is great.
Probably answer my own question now, had an idea, if I was to edit the config file to set my resolution in the alternate file folder, than would it retain that for only that version? Otherwise "Help".

When you edit the conf.ini manually, it retains it's settings for ALL versions.
The conf.ini is not copied or replaced when using the switcher unless you want it to be.
In that case, make your changes and put that version into the appropriate folder.
Continue to make altered conf.ini files for your other versions and put them in the correct folders as well.

No, but you can make the game use multiple conf.ini files by making the conf.ini you want and then copying it to the appropriate directory.

ie. make a conf.ini for 4.08 and then copy it to the 4.08 switch directory. Do the same for all other versions as well. Then when you switch, that file will be copied along with the IL2FB.EXE, sfs files etc.

OK as I understand what you are saying is, I should,

1) edit conf.ini for the 4.08, which will be in the backup 1946 folder I made before installing the UI. Save it there then,

2) edit the conf.ini in the original 1946 folder, which now has the mods etc and IL2 Stab runs. Will IL2 Stab override any conf.ini settings if that is launched though?

I will, of course make a backup copy before editing. All I have to do now is find all those good settings to put in the conf.ini

I don't know how IL-2 Stab works, but IL-2 uses the same conf.ini no matter which version you select with the Switcher, if that means anything to you.
