I-16 at CAF in Midland (and other aircraft)
#1

A friend came in from NJ and I took her to see a few sights. Including the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Midland. Thought you all might like some pics. Sorry for the quality. Lighting was bad.

I-16 built 1939 not sure the type. 24?

Nose art. They had a room with like 28 of them. Unfortunately , the only place photos were not allowed. This was the only one not in that room.

According to a quick Wikipedia search your UFO looks like a T-28:
Quote:The North American Aviation T-28 Trojan was a piston-engined military trainer aircraft used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy beginning in the 1950s. Besides its use as a trainer, the T-28 was successfully employed as a Counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft primarily in Vietnam.

The canopy and tail, as does the general profile.

Hey... HG!

She saw the I-16 when we went into the hanger and said: "someone actually FLEW that little thing?' LOL. I knew it was small, but in person...wow.. the cockpit was so tiny.

The JU 52 was much bigger than I had pictured in my head. Especially the wing span.
