UltraPack 2.0 is actually out this time
#16

Happy days are here again! Big Grin I just started using UP 1.8 a month ago, now this, x-mas is coming early this year I can see. I was kinda nervous about adding mods to my very nicely working UP 1.8 install, and I really wanted the Droop Snoot P-38, now I can have my cake and eat it too!!!!

I tested and works fine on servers that use
HSFX 4.1, even if the CRT = 2.

just tested 2.0, and it looks like it has everything updated to inlcude the same options as HSFX and even a switcher to activate HSFX mods.

I was particularly interested in some of the optimization they are working on. So far, they have included modified exe files to better enhance the game for when you are near cities reducing stutters, and allowing for better frames rates in clouds.

In a way this is a more unified version of the two packs. I'd say its worth the download, and actually if you already have 1.8 you can patch to 2.0 relatively faster than patching from 4.09m.

call me stupid - but i still don't get it. is HSFX the new standard or benchmark or not? is the plan that UI and HSFX will eventually merge or something. i thought HSFX was the new standard -so downloaded and installed it and was very happy with it. then i noticed that the spits v 109s site (which i reckon is by far and away the best and most realistic server) is going to UI? i really need some kind of dummies guide to what's going on here.

and yes - really do feel free to call me stupid. Big Grin

Me stupid too.... I'd like to hear a straight and simple answer from someone.
HSFX was touted as the new all-in-one MOD Package. Posts seemed to indicate that UI 1.2 was the last in that series. The new baseline would be HSFX. I therefore installed HSFX 4.1. Then, I start reading that HSFX is only for one particular On-Line server or group of people. and does not include all the generally desirable MODs, just those that the particular group (SEOW??) likes.

I never fly On-Line...SEOW or any other.

Now along comes UP 2.0. No idea now as to what UP has to do with UI 1.2. Can/Should one install UP 2.0 on top of a UI 1.2 version? and/or install UP 2.0 on top of HSFX4.1?? And, what the heck is the "Fusion pack"??

I just read at the UltraPack website, in the UP 2.0 Troubleshooting section, that placing it in the Programs registry causes problems. If you have Windows Vista, as I do, then you'll want to read this:

"Possible Problems with Vista users and IL2-JSGME"

http://il2ultrapack.net46.net/index.php/...157.0.html

( You'll need to register with UltraPack to gain access to everything in their site. )
