surface textures of water?
#1

The sea looks vastly different from one day to the next, depending on the time of day or the weather and atmospheric conditions.
- a bit of wind chops up the top of the sea and dulls down the hues. Overcast skies also dull the colour, fine skies make the water lovely and vibrant,
no wind makes it glassy. Bad weather can make an idyllic harbour look dirty and polluted.

Is it possible to have the sea/ocean change colour and or texture depending on the conditions set for the map?

Are there 'choppy' surface textures to water?

I seem to remember that you can change the water settings in the conf.ini file to as high as 5. This setting gives whitecaps on waves ... though I believe that may also be related to wind speed as per weather type ...

I used this setting for a while and it did indeed look great, but I had the impression that it slowed down the frame rate noticeably. Especially when flying over wide expanses of open water ... so now I'm back to a more sedate level ...

You can also change the color of the water per map. It will be a fixed color per map, but this does offer some scope for different colored water. Here's a more detailed explanation.
