Hi lads,
Over the last few days, my computer has been behaving in real annoying ways, which are, well... annoying. :-?

Symptom 1, redirection

This happenes when I'm on google, and i click on a link. One of the two following things will happen:
-I will be redirected to a website called "Scour" or others, but its mostly this one
-A 5-10 second pause will follow, then the page i want will load. Say if i wanted to get into AAA, i would click on the link, then the page would go blank for 10-15 seconds, with this adress bar "http://www.google.com.au/search?q=all+aircraft+arcade&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&as_acct=uo2948i5uqp&cr=w12f0bc6" then the page would load.

Symptom 2, Directx problem???

-Lock On will not work. I go to load any mission, then half-way through the loading, it crashes.
-Rise of Flight will only crash, when an aircraft explodes or crashes (no pun intended)

My computer says i have directx, but if i go to install it, it goes through with the instalation everytime???

My Computer:

AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core processor
2.047Gb of RAM
DirectX 9.....apparently....
Realtek HD Audio Output
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

I have ZoneAlarm and Avira AntiVir Personal (Free edition)

Please help, i do not want to spend Aus$50 to get my computer wiped, i spent my last $180 on a TrackIR 5 :lol:

Yes I can, it finds various things, but to no avail

Is there an option to delete those things? If there is, try that.

A hard format would be needed to get rid of every trace. What I mean is that get a brick sized permanent magnet and swipe the harddrive.

free edition of any anti virus is a half measure.you need a good full version .you get what you pay for.free=crapy protection. :wink:
i recomend kaspersky anti-virus. i been down that free road and it just dont workout.

My cable provider uses kaspersky anti-virus and I've installed it..see if your service provider offers you the anti-virus

also check out TrendMicro online virus scan..called " Housecall "

I've been dealing with things like this for quite a while as an IT professional.
Uncommon to popular belief and mass marketing, No one program will do everything!
Proper system protection requires a combination of different specialized programs working in concert to prevent and eliminate threats.

If it is a virus/spyware/maleware or hostageware, try the following:

1. Turn off system restore.

2. Reboot the system in Safe Mode with Network Support (Press F5 as the system posts)

3. Install Spybot Search and Destroy (Latest version).
- Run SBS&D and update it first. Then immunize the system and search for problems.
- After the firs run and cleaning, set SBS&D to run after next boot. DO NOT REBOOT YET.

4. Install and run Anti Malware Bytes
- Update first after install, then run a FULL scan.

5. Lastly, install Spyware Blaster
- Install and Update, then apply immunizations.

6. Re-boot the system normally and re-run the scans.

7. If everything checks out clean, D/L, install and run CCleaner.
- Run File scan first then run registry scanner.
- Reboot the system.

You're already using Avira, but if I were you, I'd either pay for the full version or switch to AVG free. This is due to the fact that AVG Free supplies Email scanning support, where as you only recieve that kind of functionality with Avira if you pay for it.

well i try to get onto the Spybot Search and Destroy website, but apparentl, thier server is unavailable... (yes, i know its the virus). Ill try doenloading them through my other computer, and bringing them in on a flash disk, is that ok??

Sounds very similar to a problem I had last year.
Especially the browser redirection and inability to download SpyBot

Cured it by scanning with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware www.malwarebytes.org
Quick Scan cleared the problem followed by Full Scan to double check.

The advice from Jinxx is what I would follow.

Mcafee total protection, whenever i get a virus, i just scan, and delete it with mcafee it does all the work for me . its expensive, but i got my computer full of viruses and had to get it wiped for 565 dollars Cdn! they thought it was bad enough and gave me mcafee for free (plesae note- DO NOT FILL YOUR PC WITH VIRUSES AND ASK FOR MCAFEE, only works in a computer store near me )
