Yup, he's got it coming! 8)
But:
There's no 'official' tutorials for painting your crate, just make sure it all fits together in the right places.
And this is mainly try & error... might take a little time, but it's worth it! :
Open other skins in GIMP and take a closer look, how other skinners had camo'ed the fuselage. Start from there.
Oh, btw, the Kid on the photo above reminds me of Winston Churchill. Purpose?!
Just kidding!
And another btw: your darker camo version looked much closer to the real thing... check some color tables.
And above all: get yourself registered here and learn all about skinning & templating from "the experts":

Lovely custom skin there! Would love to be able to skin that nicely
The shark mouth must have been a pain to adjust and yet looks almost perfect! (reminds me F105 thunderchief mouths, did you borrow it from them? looks very cool)

There are several "official" RLM color palettes around. The problem is, the Il-2 game engine shows your crafts colours brighter than your graphics software.
Your RLM 74/75/76 tables may be absolutely right - in theory - but too bright in Il-2.
Example: your color table shows 75 and 76 as two very light colors, fairly close together in spectrum. In reality, RLM 75 would've been considerably darker than 76,
which was a very light blueish grey. The differences between the tones can be seen nowadays on "Red7", an ex-Buchon, retrofitted with a DB powerplant,
and painted to RLM specs:
or a "factory fresh" FlugWerk FW-109A-8N, also painted to RLM specs:
(while the markings on the latter A/C aren't quite to specs... :-) )
You can D/L several "colour swatches" - color tables - @ simmerspaintshop.
They are for use in Photoshop, maybe you can also implement them in Gimp, but I'm not absolutely sure about that. It worked for me in Corel Photo Paint.
You'll find tweaking your colour tables to meet "the real thing" much more satisfactory, than just sticking to the numbers.
As seen on the two photos above, you'll notice th seemingly different color hues, but that's only sunlight and it's angle.
Also, the first pic was taken on a clear day, while the latter was taken on a more or less overcast day.
That being said, check that RLM 75 of yours, it's too bright. just a little toning down will do the trick - and finish the fuselage job, right?!
P.S. Luftwaffe spinners "spirals", officially ordered starting Feb. '44, were RLM 21 white on RLM 70 schwarzgrün background.

Thanks, chap! Took some beers to adjust all the edges, but it worked out...
The shark is actually from a scan of a decal sheet for a F-4E Phantom II model kit. Resizing, adjusting and placing the eyes didn't take that long, try it for yourself!
