Crashes at 5% after Ultr@pack install.
#1

i wasn't hoping this would be my first place to post in on here, but oh well.

Yesterday I was looking for some mods for IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, I had a few campaigns added on and such, and I found Ultr@Pack, so after lots of hard drive clearing, and lots of waiting, the install finished, I go into my IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder, change MODS to -MODS, start IL-2, it stays at 5% for 45 seconds then crashes to the desktop without an error. I tried this by putting the MODS folder back the way it was, changing around the display settings, ect.

I've run out of ideas, other than a total reinstall of IL-2 there has to be some way to find the issue and fix it, please help! Sorry if I didn't give enough information, I'm not sure what would be necessary, just ask if you need to know anything like computers specs and so on.

Welcome to our website. Smile

A 5% usually means a missed or misplaced patch, though a bunch of corrupt files in the add-on might do it.

I created a good guide to show the right direction. Look for the patch path here:

Well, I don't have any backups of the game...so it looks like I'm just gonna have to suck it up and reinstall Big Grin Although I Can't keep any backups, unless I were to burn it to a CD or DVD, because the hard drive space on my computer is extremely limited, it's only an old 30GB. As such IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 is the ONLY game I have on here. I even had to copy Ultr@pack's install files to a 4GB flash drive just so it'd all fit! Oh well, I'll just try reinstalling then and burning a copy of IL-2's root folder to a DVD, thanks for the help and the guide! Maybe someday when I have a new computer with a bigger hard drive I'll back up Sturmovik, I can't now cause of it's limited size and they don't make this kind anymore...it's old Confusedhock:

And as always, one problem after another...I did a complete uninstall, even deleted the remaining folder left over from the uninstall, I go to reinstall, and I get '1628 Failed to complete installation" I googled it, it said corrupt .msi file, it's the same one I used the first time, it can't be corrupt! Any help would be appreciated Sad

iRelyt,

One should never delete a folder instead of using the uninstaller. Also, deleting the ghost folder from the uninstall can create a problem. Please see this topic and post in it for help:
