Run-time error '7': out of memory
#1

I in stalled a digital download version of IL 2 1946, patched to 4.08 4.09, then installed UP 2.1 with sasd patch. The game works no crashes. Now when I try to open a simple text document I get the
Run-time error '7': out of memory message. I also notice that some of the IL2 related icons do not display the actual proper icon.It show a default type file image. I am running XP pro 32 bit. $ gigs of DDR 2 RAM. CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+. This strange issue started as soon as I installed IL2 with the UP 2.01 add on. Everything is installed on C drive separate from program files in its own folder.

Yes, that is where it currently is. C drive in the IL2 1946 folder separate from program files. Now, since I posted I tried some things to solve the problem. st off the text document that I was trying to open was not notepad but a program called TRW searcher. Other programs worked for text docs. when I tried but not the Default TRW searcher. I uninstalled it and re installed it. It now works with out the error message. The other problem that I had wad the generic looking icons was turned out to be the overwritten Quick mission tuner, it must have been disabled when I installed UP2.01. I reinstalled the QMT and it works. The other icon that was displaying as a generic file was my Old install of IL5 FB AEP PF , I just removed it from my start tray. I do have another strange unrelated problem though, I downloaded a skin , from Flight sim files. I scanned it extracted it and another weird file came out to that cant be deleted from my downloads folder. When I try to delete it it says "Cannot delete file:Cannot read from the source or disk." I right click it to display its properties and it shows 0 bytes. I tried Revo Uninstaller in Hunter mode, pointed the "Gun-sight" on it to Kill and delete and it and it asks me if I want to close windows Explorer, The Start menu, task bar and system tray will disappear! I don't want to lose the Start menu and task bar, It is strange wont go away, I at least got one issue sort of fixed the other with the file has been going on for a while.

Hummmm. Now that is a bit of A sticky wicket :-? Maybe (The "weird un-deletable file" is a Window's Nutshell? Do you have Norton? If yes then run a scan on it, that should help you out, as it could be a virus.

I do hope some else will be able to help you out further.

I do not have Norton. Crazy thing is it came with a Yak-9D skin. I always scan 1st, I use Avira. but thank you anyway for you help.

No problem - but next time you may want to extract the files manually

This sounds more like a corrupted registry than a virus.
Try running CCleaner on your machine.
Once you have it installed, run the registry check, not the file check.
That should fix all the file ties.
