I think modelling large aircraft tyres in IL-2 may be a problem.
The game engine does not model the compression of the tyre due to the aircraft weight.
So if you make the tyre the correct size it will sit too high, because the tyre does not compress.
So to have the plane at the right height you have to make the tyre smaller.
Its a guess -- based on my limited experience in trying to produce a 3D model of an aircraft.
I'm pretty sure that all of the IL-2 aircraft wheels are modelled as fairly simple prisms, symmetrical about the wheel axle so geometric compromises need to be made.
I've just had a look at the He111 wheels "in game." I guess the modeller has fixed the wheel diameter based on the squashed shape of the tyre at the bottom. It looks about right for that.
But maybe you could make it fatter and set the plane height so that the bottom part of the wheel was buried in the ground. That way it would look squashed at the bottom when it was in contact with the ground but become symmetrical when it lifted clear, so you get an illusion of the tyre flattening out.
The width of the tyre between the undercarriage legs looks about right.
You need input from someone with aircraft modding skills.
More guessing here
If theres no change in the DM or FM, and its just a graphic fix, perhaps the extra radius would sit "below ground".
