We need more Sliding canopy.

Wow! Maybe on AI, with sliding canopy, have canopy open when gear extends & close when gear retracts.

a 109 varient with sliding canopy S199

This is Avia S-199 no BF109.

Yep.. And there will be no Second world war stories to tell, because that modification was implemented after the war..

And of course we had a P-80 with droptanks in the war. And a Corsair with radar, too. And a Seafire with contra-props....

Why not have a postwar Sinai campaign over the Gaza strip? Theres already a large fanbase for Korea....

In that case add the S-199 as a new plane, with the canopy and all, and not as a modification of the existing 109's in the game.

By the way, the Avia bird was crap, due to unsuitable Jumo engines instead of DB power. So adding a sliding canopy to an existing late 109G model just won't cut it.

Absofrigginlutly! Add the S-199! Who gives a hoot if it was a 'crap' plane. She's a bit of aviation history, so why the hell not...

FYI not all Avia's had the Jumo engines, they used those when they ran out of the DB's...

The Avias that used the DB 605 were S-99's. When they ran out of DBs, they created this new version with the Jumo 211 (just think of the possibilities if they had used the Jumo 213!).
And this version was the S-199. And they sold some of them to Israel, which used them in their war. So no S-199 with DB 605 i'm afraid. Cry

Correct - the S-99 was just a renamed standard 109G built at Avia and only a few of those were built. The S-199 was a development using Jumo power (because there were no more DB's available) and with minor changes such as the canopy and all, 500+ built.

Has anyone taken the time to research the possibility of making the P47's and P51D canopy slide?

Yep this would make P47 and P51 more favorable.

Espicially P47... But are there any possiblity make an Me 109 cockpit open. It opens to right side.

And also FW 190 has an sliding canopy.

This isn't... oh well it is... Did you know that the Mig-3 has a simply sliding canopy...

190's and 109's didn't fly with the cockpits open, unless they weren't goin to be flying for much longer. stick to the ones that actually did it inflight, as opposed to all of them, or tie it to a function such as landing gear raising/lowering. it would be useful for taxiing (if using the 6dof mod as well), but would be just plain old wrong, if used in-flight, for a lot of planes.

I use cockpit open in formation flying and if my cockpit is full of bullet holes. Indeed 109 canopy were that if motor was running and canopy open it would broke... This helped on bailing out too.
