Great Mod

But how do I use them with the new USAAF Reticles created by another modder ?

Thanks for trying the sights Carnage. I will do some testing with available reticle mods, and when I come up with some recommendations I will post a topic.

By the way the release of the official version of the P47 Thunderbolt gunsight mod will happen soon.- I am just waiting for approval. Some minor defects corrected and iron sights added to all except the D-Late.

I think its very important that the new cockpits are 100 % compatible to ne new reticles here in ther forum

Are you talking about Catahoulak's US replacement reticles for N9 Gunsight? Or are there others that I should look at?

I will do what I can to ensure that they are compatible before final release.

Know that the P47 gunsight mod has the conventional folder structure and file names for reticles, so the replacement reticles should work. As I said, I will check and see what the hang up could be. :?

To add the bright reticle to the new sights you go to the cockpit folder for the sight you want to change. To add the brightrticle for the K-14 in the P-47D open the P-47D-25 cockpit folder
and rename or delete the reticle.mat, reticle1.mat, reticle.tga and the reticle1.tga files.

Then you add from your bright reticle folder Reticle.mat, Reticle1.mat, Reticle.tga, Reticle1.tga,
Reticle2.tga. I used the reticle files from my old P-47D mod with Bright reticles.

For all other P-47s add the bright rectile files Reticle.mat , Reticle.tga, Reticle2.tga to the P-47D-10
cockpit folder

This should give you bright reticles for all p-47s.

I have a problem with this mod.

The d-10 and d-22's sights do not line up with the actual bullet paths. The Center of the recticles are down and to the right a little bit. Just enough to screw up shooting.

I will take another look at it.

If anyone else has issues like this I would like to know now. I am planning to upload a new version that includes iron sights and some minor graphic improvements at the end of the week.

I have an idea about what might be causing this Th!rdeye. Would I be correct in saying that this problem is worse with long range gunnery, or is it short range that is giving you probs? Please Advise.

Short range is tolerable because i know where the bullets are really heading, but long range is hard to get.

I think I have solved this problem. The correction will be applied in the next release.
The vector for the bullet stream was slightly different than the vector for a/c travel.
This was producing a sort of a bowing effect to the bullet stream.
Not a big problem at ranges that I am comfortable with, but is definitely noticable at longer ranges. Thanks for the observation.

MP,

The problem here is my clumsy posting technique. The latest sights are here viewtopic.php?t=5240

I left this link here at the time because I thought some people would prefer not to have the version with iron sights. I did request that the gunsight mod be moved to the main download page at one time but got no response. That was probably a good thing at the time, because subsequently LALRONE discovered an issue with the gunsights and FMB (which is now corrected). I haven't heard of any problems with the latest version, so I think it is stable. I will request again that it be moved to the main download page. Ultimately, these sights will be bundled with the new cockpits.
