I know there is someone floating around with a sig that says they are re-painting the He 111.. if this is the case - is it possible to get a mirror on the H-6 version?

Here is a pic I took off eBay a while ago.. As you can see, it is there for all to see...please?

Hi Gringo - I don't know how skilled you are at modding, but one glaring omission from IL2 is the He 111 H20/21/22 series. This was the version with up-rated engines, paddle blade props and an electrically powered upper turret. From 1943 it was the main version employed on the eastern front - but we don't have it.

Any chance you could look at this at some time?

Sure.But first me and Hawk,we're going to release the cockpit and gunner positions new textures for the Heinkels Smile .
I personnaly have dreamed about the latter variants too.

i want a top turret, and i believe it had a 13mm mg but not sure
anyway please mod this if possible

Ok guys...I browsed wiki and i saw all the variants and characteristics of the He-111.
We'll creat the He-111 H-20 /or H-21/.I got the info i need,but i need more data on the engines Jumo 211 F-2 and Jumo 213 E-1.

I need the max speed that they can reach,max RPM and max altitude.
I don't need the horse power,i found it.But when viewing the HP,you can't say the speed that they can achieve,right? Wink


ps:Latter when i have smaller amount of stuff to do,i'll creat and the He 111 H-20/R1 (can carry 16 paratroopers) and He-111 H-20/R3 (was a specialized version for night missions).
They'll be a well appriciated stuff too,i guess Smile .
Ou...and they'll have their own slot aswell.Already working on this one.

ps2:I'll be able to start working at 100% on this project after my exams pass this month.
They're very important to me,because next year i'm graduating,so i have to show my best to the teachers those 2 years!

EDIT:Almost forgot,when we finnish the cockpit re-paint,it will come out with "THE MIRROR" :lol: .I'm working on this as well.Mirrors for the H-2,H-6 and H-20 too (when it come out).

First steps to the new AC.Haven't done anything on the plane yet,but it's already in it's own AC slot,waiting for the day to come,and start active duty. Smile

Thanks for taking this on Gringo - it's such an important machine it deserves some extra attention.

As I read more about this, it seems the earliest He-111 to have a top turret was a rustsatz version of the H-16 (H-16/R1) powered by the standard Jumo 211 F-2 engines. William Green gives performance figures for the H-16:

Power: 2 x Jumo 211 F-2 engines rated at 1350 hp for take off, 1060 hp at 17390ft.
Max speed without bombs and with half fuel (figures in brackets relate to aircraft in maximum loaded condition):
227 mph (217 mph) at sea level;
248 mph (236 mph) at 6560 ft;
255 mph (242 mph) at 13120ft;
270 mph (252 mph) at 19685ft;

Time to 6560ft at max loaded weight 8.5 minutes;
to 13120ft 23.5 minutes;
to 19685ft 42 minutes;

Service ceiling at max loaded weight 21980ft; without bomb load and with half fuel 27890ft.

The H-20 version was probably very similar to the above, given that it had the same engines. I believe all H-20s had top turrets (ie carried extra weight), but they also had more efficient paddle blade props, so I doubt that any performance differences from earlier models were significant; Il2 wouldn't let us model them in any case, as all its FMs are somewhat approximate.

Thing is, it's not clear from William Green's writings whether all H-20s had the turret, or if it was just the H-20/R2 freighter/glider tug version. If it was, well, that's not such an interesting version and it might be better to model the H-16 with turret rustsatz and offensive load capability. On the other hand, he includes a Gerd Heumann profile of an H-20/R3 night bomber, which clearly shows this version with a powered turret. I assume this was also included on the H-20/R4 night harassment version.

Re the Jumo 213 versions (H-21 etc):

Green says that in early 1944 the Jumo 211 was superceded on the H production line by the Jumo 213E-1 (three speed, two stage supercharger, induction cooler, 1750 hp for take off, 1320 hp at 32,000ft, max loaded weight 35,275 lb, max bomb load 6615 lb). The bomber series was redesignated 'H-21' to signify the move to the Jumo 213E-1, but this version didn't enter service until summer 1944. It had a max speed without bomb load of 298 mph (presumably at the engines' rated altitude) - in other words, a speed margin over the earlier models of 20 - 30 mph.

I guess this is the new electrical powered? top turret that you were talking about. Smile
Now translation:
He-111 H-20 from 4./KG53,summer 1944.On the upper standart cammuflage are painted a lot of spots with RLM 76.On the white nose (of the spinner),there is a red line (1/3 from the spinner's diameter) .Uknown purposes.
Btw,this is going to be the deffault skin for this bird. Smile

I'm not sure about the engines.So the H-20 model should be with the Jumo 211 F-2 or Jumo 213 E-1?
Because we got this info for the H-16,but not and the H-20.And as we assume that the H-20 is latter model,which was in max production when the Jumo 213 E-1 engines were in mass production too. :roll:

Yes, that is the electrically powered turret - though the artist has got the shape slightly wrong, I think.

The H-20 was produced in 1943 and was, as Green says, "a similar basic airframe to that of the H-16" - but - "produced from the outset in four forms: paratroop transport, glider tug, night bomber and nocturnal nuisance raider." It used the H-16 turret 'rustsatz' as a standard fitting (I believe).

According to Green:
"All H-series aircraft up to and including the H-20 had been powered by Jumo 211 engines, but by early 1944 the Jumo 211 was being superseded in production by the Jumo 213E-1 and the decision was taken to introduce this newer engine on the He 111H assembly line. This enabled max. loaded weight to be raised to 35275 lb and max. bomb load to 6615 lb.
The Jumo 213 variant was allocated the designation H-21. Some local structural strengthening accompanied the introduction of the new engines, but the basic airframe, equipment and defensive armament were the same as the He 111H-20/R3" (i.e. the night bomber version with electrically powered turret shown in your picture above, powered by Jumo 211 engines).

So the H-20 versions seem to have all had turrets, but were fitted with Jumo 211F-2 engines.
The H-21 versions arrived in late summer 1944 and had turrets and Jumo 213E-1 engines.

I notice, by the way, that even the H-22 version, which carried the Fi 103 flying bomb, was fitted with a dorsal turret as standard. There are several photographs showing this.
