Quick Flights; Matt Manager Questions (please help!)
#1

Two things: First off, i love flying quick missions, but I am bored with the provided quick mission maps. Is it possible to unlock the other provided maps for quick missions, for example, a stalingrad map, one set for the Battle of Britain (if there is one...) and more. I would like to use maps like the ones used for the G.11 glider mod (the russian smallish glider) but I haven't the first clue about modding IL2. I also like the idea of a map with the sort of patchwork fields on the ground, rather than the plain grass (anyone know the kind i'm talking about?).

Well anyway, is there a mod for this that i've missed?

Also, I have IL2 Mat-manager, a mod that looks incredibly useful. However, since i have the IL2 sound mod, and IL2 1946 as the original game, the .exe file is "il2fb.exe", where as Mat manager seems to excclusively use "il2.exe or "pf.exe" [pf as in pacific fighters... It may have been pb as in pacific battles..]. Any suggestions?

To enable more maps for quick missions get the QMBPlus mod by FatCat:

(The link is inoperative)

To get mat manager to work you need to make a copy of your il2fb.exe and rename it to 'il2.exe' then it should work fine.

I tried changing IL2fb.exe to plain old IL2.exe but the game then played entirely in russian with none of the extras (ie new flyable aircraft from the sound mod etc) and to add insult to injury, MAT Manager still didn't work!

thanks for the mod btw!

sorry to bump this, but dont want to make a new topic, to ask the same question, ive been out of the loop since the demise of the squad i was in (9thawacs) i didnt even know mods were possible on this scale

one thing i never forgot was that playing this with default markings, was akin to shoving knives into your eyes however.

so i got the all in one matt manager.
renamed my FB exe, and pointed mat manager to it.

launching the game from my il2FB shortcut, or matt manager itself, leaving matt manager open, or saving and quitting etc, none make a difference, my eyes are still insulted when i fire up the game

i know there used to be a way around this, but it escapes me, anyone have an idea ?

im running the 4 09 version of the game i bleieve, with all the extra aircraft etc.

i used to get this problem way back in the day, but knew a workaround Smile now i forgot.

any help please ?

EDIT:

solved, never mind Smile

have downloaded MAT Manager and on the set up screen it asks me to name my path as required so I go into browse scroll down and come across ILs Forgotten Battles 1946 I click on that and I get path IL2FB or IL2PF error
I have seen the above regards renaming do I go to the ubisoft folder in my program files where I have iL2FB with Icon is this the file I copy and rename in the C files folder?
Sorry for the question but I seem to be having trouble with this?

nope

what you have is an EXE file named IL2FB

copy it, then paste it, into the same folder, "copy of IL2FB!
rename the copy to "IL2"

copy the file on the left, and rename the copy, as shown on the right.
no need to change folders etc.

that will recognize it, then in theory it shoulw work when you launch, using the il2FB exe.

mine wont however

Edit i fixed mine

Sorry to necro a thread. I now have the same problem. I have installed ver. 2.36, have both an il2fb.exe and an il2.exe in my game folder, but MAT manager will does not work when I load up the game.

load up the matt manager icon, choose a set / make changes (customise the settings as they suit you) then close down the matt manager. If you select quit, what should happen is it spends a few minutes copying all the files ready to be used over to IL2. Then you can launch IL2 normally. I don't think that selecting 'launch' from the options in matt manager worked for me, but wuitting the manager so's it copied the files and then launching il2 did.

make sure you have this:

ClearCache=0

in your conf. ini at the bottom of the column whihc starts with HighGore=1

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.
