Transferring mods?
#1

Somebody I know is just getting back into IL-2 and wants to try out all the new mods. But he's got a crappy internet connection. If I were to burn a DVD with a set that he could copy/paste into his install to bring him up to standard, what folders/files would I need to send him?

I'm thinking he would need the following folders:
Files folder
i18n folder
Mods folder

And the following files:
conf.ini (for sound settings to be compatible)
filelist
files.sfs
rts.dll (Needed for the .exe's?)
all IL2.exe files (Russian .exe's for the sound mods?)

Are any of those not needed, or do I need to add anything? Thanks.

Just a thought, do you have the unified installer? if so that might be more useful on a dvd than a copy of the mods folder?

I recently transfered the complete IL2 game folder with mods and everything to my friend.

Took it there with me in a portable HDD. When put under 'Program files' folder it started to work in his computer quite as in mine, with configurations and everything as I had put them. So, evidently no need to have an installing disc.

My game with skins and mods and all counted for almost 7 Gb of disc space. Could have transfered it as well in DVD's, but decided to spare a couple of euros not needing to write them... Smile

Doh! Wrapper.dll...Yes that would be important...

I did consider the unified installer, but it includes some mods that I don't really like, and some new beautifull but perhaps more proscessor taxing effects and textures. I'm going this route for simplicity sake as well...

"Oh, uh, dude! Its crashing at 60% now! You broke it!"
'Okay, what did you do? You installed the new AC Installer like I told you right?'
"Well, I downloaded those files to my computer, then I ran the downloader and downloaded the spitfire to my IL-2 directory, and after that downloaded I ran the game and it crashed."
'You mean...Installed them...?'
"Thats just another word for download, right?"
