Slightly OT- Screenshots from dvds??
#1

I have on occasion had to get reference from dvd movies( say Battle of Britain.)Rather that simply shoot such shots with my digital camera with the movie on hold , is there a way of doing screenshots? I've tried the ordinary way,by hitting the screenshot button ,saving the image & going to Photoshop to convert it into a jpeg, but whenever I attempt to print it it I get a solid black rectangle. Also I run into problems if I try to crop it.Is there an easy way that I am somehow overloking?
Many thanks!

Get yourself a little app called fraps.
Available free (limited version) - runs in the background with most apps, and allows you to take screenshots, and/or video clips (avi)

Its worth getting the k-lite codec pack. The full version comes with media player classic, which has a screenshot function. And I've never found a audio/video file the codecs won't play. Oh, and its free Smile

Same here, great program and no bloat-ware. FRAPS is also good and allows you to take screen shots and make movies. The free version of FRAPS will put their logo on movies and will only save screens as bitmaps, the pay version allows you to choose your screen shot file type and does not imprint the logo on movies. Nice thing about FRAPS is that you pay for it once, all updates and upgrades are then free.
