Yep.. got that link there are some cracking pics on the site..
As good as these pictures are, I can't help being saddened looking at the pilots and crews there, thinking most of those guys would have been killed at Midway..

Reminds of those peepshows from Oleg; Wasn't the devastator meant to be included in some MOD for PF?

They are part of a Google source project. Simply search for any term in your google search bar and add source:life to it.

I believe that the pictures feature Torpedo Squadron 6, operating off of the USS Enterprise, circa 1940 or early 1941. The airplanes are TBD Devastators and Curtiss Helldivers.

So the deck crew probably (mostly) survived the war - assuming they stayed on the Enterprise. The aircrew of VT-6 mostly got shot down at Midway, although they weren't mauled as badly as the infamously unfortunate VT-7, which flew off of the USS Hornet.

Very nice find of early color pictures. Very useful should someone want to do a mod involving the US aircraft carriers.

Thanks for sharing, what a great information! I found immediatly a lot from Peter Stackpole, a great contemporary photographer.
If you type in the google image search

stackpole navy source:life

you will come upon lots of excellent pictures of old navy planes, even in color.
