First, please relocate this to a more appropriate section if one exists. I couldn't really find any that would be perfect so it's in here...
OK...I understand the MK-108 gun option on the 190A's. You trade smaller internal guns for larger ones when maximum anti-bomber firepower is required. I understand the Mk-103 pod options, again, you trade off a pair of internal guns, this time for a pair of MUCH larger external guns.
The one I DON'T understand are the dual external 20mm pods. A pair of internal guns are moved externally in exchange for the addition of another pair of the same size. There is no major increase in rounds per gun either. So for an extra pair of 20mm's you pay a drag penalty for FOUR 20mm's...
I don't get it...Why not stick to the standard 20mm's, MK108's or 103's? Unless these are really intended to be bolted on to 190F's that were delivered without wing guns for use as extra strafing/anti-bomber firepower it just dosen't make sense to me. Sp of anybody can explain that one...Please do!
