Hi chaps, when I'm playing the 'Day of the Cobra' campaign with the P51B, I either get a nice clear canopy glass but with a totally black gunsight or I get some sort of pixelated dots effect or sometimes semi transparent image on the cockpit glass( B17 style steering yoke seen on left pane!)wth a multi coloured pixelated gunsight.
It makes shooting anything a blind guess and I'm crap at shooting anything as it is with my aircraft bobbing around!
Is it something easy to sort or have I got to start everything all over again?
current mod-4.09b1m with latest wrapper and ac installer.

Sorry I forgot, I cannot provide a screenshot as it won't work. My print screen just prints the desktop! and F12 does nothing, so I hope my descriptions will suffice.

couple of things that might help to narrow down what's going on

1- does this apply to other planes aswell?

2-are you using a modded pit for p-51b?- does renaming that mod with a - sign infront cure it?

3 - try disabling all mods by renaming mods folder with - sign?

4- does this occur on an unmodded install of fb? (if you have one)

5- does this occur after some time with comp switched on or is it present after a cold boot?- thinking possible graphics card overheat. clean out those 'dust bunnies' from fans etc

6 what graphics card/os are you using and which drivers- if using recent ati cards switching catalyst ai to standard can sometimes help. from screenshot prob i'm guessing vista?

I saw this problem with the P-51 canopy a while ago. It disappeared when I switched to the new graphics dlls. Have you tried loading those?

Also, look for last Graphic Driver Update, do you use ATI Card? Update is Catalyst 8.12 (Dec).

I take it you are using Vista, pressing print screen puts the image into your Il2 directory (TGA file)

Firstly the problem has only just occured and as far as I know I've only added the ship pack2. I have the modded P51B cockpit also but the problem started with the stock pit.
I have a Radeon ATI 2400HD, and Vista.
I will check out the dll's and the latest graphics driver and let you know.
In regards to the screenshot problem there is no screenshot file in my IL2 directory in any format, and I also have the screenshot to jpg utility installed but that didn't cure it.

unfortunately you have to start at the start and work through methodically to eliminate possible causes one by one. P.I.T.A but it's alot easier to pinpoint the problem. i suspect a hardware/driver problem but really want to check a mod(s) isn't causing the problem.

from what you've said it isn't my pit repaint (phew ) but can i ask you to check it isn't a mod problem by doing the rename MODS folder to -MODS and retesting.

assuming problem is still there rename back to MODS and carry on through the tests. if you can bear to be without computer for 1/2 hr try switching off comp for 1/2hr to cool down, then reboot and try again. if prob is still there and the gpu fan is working- air blown out of back of case and no 'unusual noises gpu is probably ok.
any probs in other games?

the catalyst AI setting is where i think the problem might lie but it really is 'good practise' to eliminate the improbable first. please check this and report.

i'm no expert on vista (still on xp) but iirc running game in windowed mode can get round the no screenshot problem- a pic is worth a thousand words

I disabled the ATI catalyst Ai and oila!!
