Hey guys, some of you and even myself have had an issue with the loader screen freezing at the start of the game and I might have found a solution, if you also have STAB. I'm not sure if this is what fixed it because there is no way for me to test it again. So I started the game like normal using Stab and I've noticed that it takes longer on the initial start up than if I have already played the game, I restarted it with Stab in the tray. I had to do something else important on my computer and rather than waiting for the game to boot up I aborted by right clicking on Stab and clicked close. When I got my other stuff done I restarted Stab and started IL2 and in wen straight to the loader screen with no freeze, also loaded much faster. Give it a try and see if this helps but you'll probably have to re-set your resolution on your desktop because for some reason an abort at the first stages re-sets your resolution to the ingame res. Let use know if this works...

I'm back to say that this does in fact work for this problem. I loaded a MOD earlier and sure as I'm setting here the loader screen froze, again, so I followed my instructions :mrgreen: and it once again loads without freezing, cheers

This is a utility that not only lets you adjust settings for the game but also has properties that stabilize it too. I highly recommend this little jewel, IL2 runs far more stable and realy helps the studders, give it a go.

@GP, thanks mate, I would give Stab a try if you are having this issue for sure, another thing the load times are enough alone to make one want to do this, get the game going good from the start

the quicker loading might be to do with the fact that after the first boot, the game files are already loaded to RAM, so the second boot is quick because files dont need to be loaded

Well I took what you said into consideration and purposefully messed with the MODs file to get it to freeze, it did. The boot time from desktop to game was about 25sec, with freeze. Then I did it again and stopped the load and did all that I listed above but I also closed Stab to get a fresh start, no cache. The time from desktop to game interface was 10 seconds.

Maybe it's just my install but if I get the tray loading with the game and at that point it's in freeze mode it takes far longer that otherwise :?: it's like my computer is thinking about something :?
